Me. Even took the time to email the athletic department. I sent an apology email last year. They obviously know more about hiring a coach then I do.....

Thanks for be a man and admitting this. I imagine there are quite a few that should be sending apology emails.
ETA: This is a good example of why we fans should let the professionals do their jobs.

I'm absolutely not an auburn fan and I condemned them. . .and I still do. I did applaud then for hiring a winning OC. We'll see how good they are next year after gussy gus(the real coach) is gone. I threw up in my mouth listening to the announcers on the duece talking about how gene was the hottest shite in college football.

Hey, I'm always honest about it, and have been all through this. I condemned it, hated it, thought it was wrong, but not for the standard reasons most cite. It was a horrible PR move to hire a 5-19 coach, no matter how good you "really knew" he was. I knew that nobody wins at ISU, and was willing to consider him in the same light as if he'd been hired straight off of being a DC at TX. I still thought there were better candidates, even considering it in that light. I would seem, in the short term, I was dead wrong.

I was pissed.
I believe the announcement was made on a Saturday an the press conference was going to be on Monday.
I remember saying they better come up with another plan and introduce someone else at the press conference.
I don't think you'll come across many AU fans who thought it was a great hiring. There were some who knew CGC's plan and were his proponents, but they weren't very vocal.
It's good to be wrong, though. Although opposing fans still don't see it, he was a diamond in the rough.

I was really confused at first because I knew the name, but wasn't quite sure from where. Then I remembered he was our DC and the DC at Texas, so I was pretty okay with the hire (I personally was still in shock over Tub's forced retirement). Then my brother informed me of Chizik stint at ISU and I was like

I hated the hire and was awfully pissed that we got rid of Tubs for a coach that was 5-19.

I was surprised and disappointed as he was not my first choice and I would have actually been happier if CTT had stayed. Condemned is probably a little to severe a term for the way I felt. After he began to put his staff together though and brought in some decent recruits, I changed my mind.
