I'm not sold on LSU's Defense yet.

I think they are good, but I'm just not sold on them being great YET. They gave up 24 points to a depleted UNC and 29 to Florida. And everyone else they have played sucks for the most part. And it's not like Florida is really impressing anyone this year. However I am fairly impressed with the low amount of yards they are giving up. But they have yet to play any of the top 5 offensive teams in the SEC which I would consider Auburn, Arky, Bama, South Carolina, and probably (believe it or not) Kentucky.
Of course, they are having to do a lot of it without a offense that can stay on the field.
I think we will know a lot more after this weekend.

The 29 to Florida is very misleading. One TD was a kickoff return, and only one TD drive was more than 20 yards due to turnovers.

Are you going to be able to watch this game?

Florida didn't really move the ball much and North Carolina was the first game of the season. But I agree, until they play some good offenses then its hard to really tell how good they are.

No doubt they mailed it in in the second half, and it was the first game of the year.

True. Though 14 of those 29 came after turnovers by the offense and special teams inside their own 20, and 7 came against special teams (kickoff) not the defense.
I know there are always "explanations", but if you're going to use those as your evidence against our defense, you have to take the context into account to some extent.

Yes, and maybe that's part of it, I haven't been able to watch much of LSU this year.

I can't wait for the game Saturday. Number 1 SEC offense vs. Number 1 D. Should be a battle.

There is much fail in this post. First of all, saying everybody but UF and UNC sucked is inaccurate because Miss st. is obviously > than UF. And alot of those points came on short drives (see inept JJ ran off.) and special teams.
Our defense doesn't allow too many sustained drives and as long as Lee plays more and gives them time to rest, this theory you have will just be wishful thinking come nov. 6

We had secondary woes in the first game, but it wasn't surprising. Other than that, the defense has been subject to compromise from turnovers and 3 and outs. I couldn't really have asked for more from them this year.

I am sold on their D. It's their Offense I'm worried about. They have struggled to put up points against most of the teams they have played. This should be a good close game IMO.

Ok, I said pretty much sucked, and it's not like Miss State is a offensive juggernaut like Arky and Auburn.

Yeah but flip it and say what D has auburn faced all year.. See, it's all about motive when starting a thread. I know gumpa have a new found love for their little brothers, but you should call out their O, as well.

The special teams and offense were to blame at UF, not the D. We are solid but the next few weeks will show how good they really are.

That and there were a couple missed assignments in the secondary and there were some players out with injury as well.
I don't think anyone has sniffed 300 yards since that game against LSU

It's a pretty simple equation:
When JJ is in, we either punt, turn it over or kick a field goal.
When JL is in, we usually score a touchdown, with a few punts and I think only 1 turnover.

MSU.....they gave up 17 to Auburn and they average 16, 14th in the country, on the season. LSU averages 14.4.....can't wait for this game. Auburn is beatable.
