Exhibit A: Georgia blackout game, Bama dominates, Georgia has never been the same since.

Exhibit B: 2009 SECCG vs Florida. Bama dominates in NCG semifinal, Florida has never been the same since, Meyer's Florida tenure appears to be nearing its close.

I dislike Bama just as much as the next guy, but I gotta give the Tide credit. Those two performances definitely stand out as the turning point in the decline of Georgia and Florida's programs.

More like both of those teams lost their amazing QBs after that year and haven't bounced back because of it

I think Floridas situation is because of losing their O & D coordinators. Plus Tebow. Not because of us

Florida is having a bad year. Make no mistake, they'll be back, as well as Georgia

Georgia's a SEC Giant? Even when they were winning SEC Championships, I never considered Georgia to be one of the powerhouse programs in college football. Now, LSU OTOH is definitely a SEC giant and it looked like Saban slayed them in '08 but it seems that they've grown another head. Then again, I don't think people have considered LSU a powerhouse program since '08 so maybe the LSU mystique is dead. Who knows?

Not under this coaching staff and not under Urban Meyer IMO. Meyer's best days at Florida are behind him. Again, JMHO.

Don't know about that, but Tuberville and Fulmer are no longer in the SEC and I'd like to think Bama contributed to their demise.

Boy that's a stretch. The problems that have led to Georgia's decline started surfacing in 2006 and have still plagued us even into this season. Outside of a 7 game run in 2007 we've been mostly average. Even with that said, we went 10-3 in 2008 and finished 10th in the country.

The games we lost in 2009 were due to our worst defense ever, wildly inconsistent QB play, no running game until halfway through the year, poor discipline, and lack of turnovers. I highly doubt that had anything to do with 30 minutes (the first half) of a game in October of 2008.

You mean it wasn't the arse kickings we had received earlier that season from UGA and UF or the fact Perriloux set our program back a couple years? The thing was actually losing an overtime game to the #1 team in the country according to you.

You either weren't paying attention or just don't want to acknowledge what we did. From 2002-2005 we won the east 3 of 4 years and won the SEC twice. We finished ranked 3rd, 6th, 6th, and 10th in the country. We didn't win a title, but for those 4 years we were undoubtedly one of the best programs in football.

Yeah, I'd be a lot more willing to say that 'Bama was responsible for the unemployment of Tubs and Phatlock.

Tubberville, yes but Fulmer was in deep trouble long before Saban stepped foot on Alabama's campus. The 2008 loss to Alabama was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Well, it was sort of ironic that he made some statement to the effect that he didn't think [Alabama] would have a football program for much longer and then we contributed directly to his firing.

It was a real karmic bitchslap.

The 2007 dismantling was the straw.

If you weren't so busy hating on McElroy, you would know the SEC is split evenly between the "haves" and the "have nots". Bama, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee are the "haves" in terms of tradition, facilities, etc. while the rest of the conference is behind. So yes, Georgia is one of the giants. You can look up plenty of info to back this up if you want.

I have very high standards in what I consider to be giant CFB programs. They need to win national titles, finish around the top five every year and have enough name recognition that top recruits from all over the country are falling all over themselves to come to that program. Florida has been a giant for the last 20 years. USC and LSU have been giants for the last decade. Florida State and Nebraska were giants in the '90s. Miami used to be a giant. They aren't anymore. Oklahoma, Ohio State and Texas are giants. Alabama are on their way to becoming a giant. They aren't quite there yet. And that's basically it. A Giant is a Goliath type program that is extremely dominant for a period of time. If they finish with a 9-4 record, it's a horrible year and a massive disappointment. I'm sorry but Georgia falls short of those standards.
