LINK

Tennessee, Mississippi State, Florida State, UCLA, Arizona State and Stanford were among the schools that made offers to Rivers.

They're eyeing a QB in 2012.

Because homegrown white QBs from Alabama tend to suck. The best one was Jay Barker and even he wasn't that great.

Like Phillip Rivers?

Saban probably didn't even evaluate his film, just saw that he was white and from Alabama and moved on.

FWIW I don't really know why but I heard the lack of interest was mutual. Maybe that's wrong but I heard the Rivers family was still upset about Alabama not recruiting Phillip. I can't say for sure if that's true, just what I heard.

I think we are pretty good at QB right now and will probably take one next year and the year after.

We have G-Mac this year, McCarron is a redshirt Freshmen that will start next year as a sophomore, and Phil Simms will redshirt this year and be a Freshmen next year. I think all three are pretty good QB's.

The problem is not this year, its next year when we only have two on scholarship. That's a dangerous situation so not getting a QB this class was a big disappointment, assuming we don't get one which is the way it looks now.

I think it has to do with his brother and the hard feelings leftover from that.

I'm referring to QBs from recent years not ones from 40 years ago. Philip Rivers is the only good one and he was a guy that went completely under the radar coming out of high school.

Bama is in the lead for winston a 2012 qb that is supposed to be in the top 5 and that Pike kid is high on Bama as well. This qb class may be weaker than last yrs top to bottom and last yr wasnt great. Glad to have Simms but in the end I dont think he would have been the top qb in any other decent yr for qb

I guess you don't know who his brother is or where he played high-school football.
