Kodi, Tyrik, & now Newton. All were the next great read option ballhandlers who were going to get the Plainsman to the promised land. Does anyone beside the AU faithful think they will hoist a trophy in the GA dome?

If they do Newton or pick your qb will have less to do with it than their defense. That will be the tale of the tape regarding the Auburn football season.

I think it is a little bit like the boy who cried wolf. After hearing on two occasions that "the one" had arrive, you stop listening. If AU would just use the hogs up front on the line, & run off tackle with one of the endless RB's they get, they would be special.

he will be ryan mallet or brent schaffer. both highly touted transfer qbs. one did well the other didn't.

NBamaAlum, the two reasons as to why I have more faith in Cam than the other two QB's are:
Cam had 40 offers out of highs chool unlike Tyrik and Kodi. Elite programs wanted this kid, not only did Dan Mullen really want this kid but so did Bob Stoops and lets not forget that Urban Meyer once had plans for him in his offense.
The guy is bigger, stronger, faster than Kodi and Tyrik. He will also come out playing like a beast, he made a mistake and he won't let anything get him in the way again.

Why is Tyrik even in this discussion? He has never seen the field. For al we know he could light it up at Sam Houston St and then go pro for 10 years.

I don't remember anyone saying Kodi was "the one." Most fans were excited because we thought we were getting a pretty good QB, but we were definitely more excited about Rollison, and even more excited about Newton.
It's hard to lump Rollison in with these 2 because he never saw the field. If he had gone out and bombed like Kodi, then you might have an argument, but since he never actually played a snap, we'll never really know.
And fwiw, I have a few bama grad friends who were saying Star Jackson was gonna be the next great bama QB.

Because Newton has better control that Burns. He struggled a bit at Fla as a freshman with over throwing the ball, but from everything I've heard he's really come along well with his accuracy.
Kodi couldn't hit the floor if he fell out of bed.

According to those in the UF camp Cam had ZERO accuracy...improving a piece of shite by 100% still gives you shite...
He could be all-world too...at this time, I'll have to take the word of those in the know

UF fans I've talked to said his accuracy left something to be desired, but that was 3 years ago. A guy can improve dramatically in 3 years time.

We'll see what he can do come Sept. He had a really good spring from what I've read/heard. We're not able to see anything out of the practices, so we've just got to rely on what's said about them from folks who were there. I've read Newton looks like he's ready. We shall see...

I'm just gonna bet he didn't get a lot of development in JUCO...If you had a legit QB coach that he's worked with since he arrived on the Plains then I would be more inclined to agree with you...we'll just have to wait and see
