The offenses today want to throw the ball. The players like it, and it is fun. At the University of Alabama, we are not about fun. We are about toughness, being physical, and winning ball games. The players have fun by winning games and championships. We do things that way, and our players buy into that idea and play hard for us.

Nick Saban runs a tight ship. I think that is the first time Kirby has been allowed to talk since spring practice. I don't even think he is allowed to talk to his wife, he passes her notes from what I have heard.

this in and of itself is a minor miracle... does kirby take a dump without asking for saban's permission?.... probably, but I'll bet he's careful when deciding.

I don't have a problem with Alabama not throwing the ball a lot. However, I have a problem with Alabama not being effective and efficient throwing the ball. A third down and long was pretty much the same as fourth down last year. It was basically an automatic punting situation. We had trouble sustaining drives. We couldn't convert red zone opportunities into TDs. Our offense was basic to an extreme and we just can't afford to have that this year with the inexperience on defense and no Javier Arenas back there to return punts. If the passing offense doesn't improve dramatically, a 9-4 season is very much a possibility this year.

the passing isn't the problem exactly.

However, our redzone offense as a whole was dismal. The playcalling was just not that great. shite, we don't have to pass at all if we just run all over teams this year like we are probably going to be able to. If our rz offense is productive then we will be pretty damn good probably.

Very frustrating. Watch your team drive down the field and then can't do shite inside the redzone. Ole Miss game last year.

it was better than watching our team get down there and then get pushed back out, and then get back to have time run out

Our red zone offense did really piss me off at times last year. I didn't understand why we were passing the football against Tennessee inside the 10 yard line when Ingram had run us all the way down there. When something is working you stick with it. Didn't McElwain remember the game he called against South Carolina the week before? He had Ingram line up in the Wildcat every single play on that final drive.
