The word had been the Eagles all week. When they moved up, I wasn't so sure anymore.

Texans can use a CB in a bad way. Hope he works out.

Can any tide fans fill me in a little more about Jackson...Your opinions on him. Thanks.

He was a solid corner for three years. He started game one as a true freshman in 2007. Never put up great interception numbers, but rarely got caught napping. His speed was always a question mark, but he had a great 40 time at the NFL combine.

I don't think Kareem has ever been "burned". He's got some of the best cover skills I've ever seen, but he used to have trouble getting his head around, finding the ball and making a play on it. He got a lot better with that this year, which is why he went first round, IMO.

I thought it was a great choice for the Texans. Especially after losing Dunta Robinson.

I remember him getting burned by Hardesty on a couple slants during the Tennessee game. But yeah, I'm just happy he got picked in the first round. It would have been disappointing if he came out a year early to be drafted in the middle of the second round.

Texans needed a DB and RB. Their first choice at RB was gone so they went with the DB which was a smart move. I read an article comparing 1st round RBs vs RBs drafted in rounds 2-4 over their career last week. The runningbacks drafted in the 1st round averaged about 200 more yards and 1-2 tds over their career (per season). There really is not much difference between an RB drafted in the 1st vs 3rd round over a career. Just look at the Broncos and the string of great backs they had - all drafted in the later rounds.
I think there is a very good chance the Texans take Ben Tate in the 2nd round now though.

Some are saying he's the most NFL ready CB. Maybe some of the other guys are thought to have higher ceilings, I'm not sure. He better be ready cause first game is the Colts.

The thing about Kareem is that he was smart. If he ever got beat on a play, he stored it in his mind and would recognize the formation and make a play the next time our opponent went back to the same play.
When Kareem was getting beat on those slants against UT, on their last drive they tried it again. And Kareem made a good jump on the ball and deflected it way up in the air and we almost picked it. Another step sooner and he would have sixed it.
Hardly ever did you see Kareem beat, especially last season. And if he did give up a play that he thought was too long, it was the last time that play worked against him.

good post...I just hadn't really heard that much on him until a few weeks ago. But if you are a good defender in the SEC...first round is generally where you land!
