is huge.

that's Willie Carl Martin on the right, he was an All-American offensive lineman at the collegiate level and a guy who made All-Pro in the CFL something like ten times. He's a huge dude in his own right, and Fluker just dwarfs him.

I think he's got a good shot to start at RT this year. He's been practicing at RT with the first unit lately. His competition is Alfred McCullough, for now. Tyler Love will be the backup to LT to get him ready to start there next year, I think.

shite if UT got ahold of him they'd cut him in half and use him in two positions and still be better off.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that Alfred McCullough is considered one of the favorites to start at RT next year?

McCullough, at about 6'2" 310lbs just doesn't seem like the prototypical tackle.

But, I remember Saban commenting on him having long enough arms and good enough feet for OT. He said that sometime last year.

Don't forget Arie Kouandjio will be here this fall.

We lost all of our starters on our line from last year. We definitely need some guys to step up.

He is huge but unless he has drastically improved his foot speed I can't see him ever making it at LT. He was abused in the high school all star games by speed rushers. I honestly think he ends up at RT or guard.

I think you are correct about him staying at RT.

Like I said, I think Tyler Love will be the backup to James Carpenter at LT for this year, and then be our LT for 2011 .

They move people in and out of the first string lines for days at a time when they're looking for a new guy so McCullough may still be the favorite. He's listed at 6'3 which seems odd for a tackle but yeah Pendry's one of the best O-Line coaches in the business and maybe our best assistant coach so if he thinks he's a tackle, I guess he's a tackle.

As for Fluker I have no idea how he'll turn out as a left tackle or a pass blocker in general but he was rated where he was more on potential than a guy like Andre Smith who was just ready to play. Fluker only played one year of offensive line in high school so its hardly a shock that he was burned some at the all star games.

Gonna be a tough year up in Knoxville for the Vols, but I think yall are heading in the right direction with Dooley.

I would say that Fluker is ahead of Love for next years LT battle if he is on the field this year.
In all honestly if Fluker plays RT this year Love may be a career back up. Because honestly if we land Cyrus I think he could play LT from day one.

He's big but I wouldn't say he dwarfs the guy on the right... he is wearing pads and a helmet which is going to make him look a lot bigger. He looks taller and his shoulders look much broader.

Not taking anything away from him, just sayin'.

I feel confident in every other position except for the O-line and our QB's which are both one of the most important positions on the field. If Nick Stephens can do alright and the line can gel together I think we will be decent. It sucks when you just hope to get to a bowl game.

D.J. is just starting to get used to played OL. He only spent one year playing the position before getting to Alabama. His physical abilities are off the chart, but so are McCullough's. It's going to be a great battle for the RT job.
