not really. Florida's population grew tremendously in the 70s, that definitely had something to do with it.

Dude, anyone will tell you that recruiting at UF is about 10x easier than it is at any other school(besides USC). And as far as the other powerhouse schools in Fl(miami and FSU) they have been down this decade for the most part, so that has only made it that much easier for Urban.

Believe it or not, many of these kids don't care if they're down or not. They still will go to these schools because it has been a life long dream. Like many elite athletes that come out of Miami areas, it's a tough draw to get them to come to Florida. I think a few years back when Bama didn't have Saban you could make the argument about it being 10x easier to recruit for Florida than Alabama. Now, I don't think that's the case.

You cant compare sharing Fla talent with 2 other schools to Bama sharing with AU.. Florida has bout Twice the population and is known as a recruiting gold mine.. throw in the fact that campus is like an hour from three different beaches, and top of the line facilities and BAM.. Recruiters dream

I do think Florida has a recruiting advantage over Alabama, just not as much of one as you think. Also, I don't think that excuse for Bama justifies Saban being a better coach than Meyer for this decade. Personally, it would be hard for me to put one over the other.

please dont think I was taking a sot at Fla or UM, if he was at Bama I wold be just as happy. It was the only thing that came to my mind when seperating the two other than their coaching philosophies or atleast apparent difference in the way they approach players. UM if he stays at Fla will still go down as one of the best coaches in sec history if his current string of success continues.

I'd put Meyer over Saban. both have two NCs but Urban did more in less amount of time and I don't recall Florida ever having lost to the likes of UAB, ULM or Utah while UM has been there.

Utah is for real I was upset a tfirst when we lost but after realy thinking about that game and watching them beat another BCS conf team in a bowl game this yr they are a legitimate football program and Whittingham is a heck of a coach. He did good things there after taking over for UM.

With absolutely no disrepect to Urbran Meyer or what he has done Nick Saban is the best coach...in the nation...not just he SEC...the argument that he pretty much built up both programs he was at is enough for me...and his coaching ability now is far greater than it was when he was at LSU...Urban Meyer is a close second....afterall the spread will never work in the SEC, right?

Someone else pointed it out already, but Florida was one of the smallest SEC states and smaller states in the union until AC was introduced and the population started flooding in the 60's.
Florida never really sucked either. No championships? True. But Florida is in the top 10 for wins going back to 1950. More like a good/average program that became elite when Florida became a populous state.

I would take Saban just because he can win with less talent. Alabama's team the last two years has been the 3rd or 4th most talented team in the SEC. Zook had some great recruiting classes and Florida has been on par talent wise with anyone in the country for most of the decade. Alabama has only had one 1st rd draft pick this decade. In 07 they didn't have anyone drafted in any of the 7 rounds.
Also Saban has one more SEC championship and an undefeated national title.
Also Saban is a defensive coach and his defense always delivers, but Meyers offense is nothing without Percy Harvin. The Spread option doesn't work in the SEC unless you have Percy Harvin.

FLA, LSU, UGA all had more talent than Bama last year and the NFL draft will prove it.
This up coming year Bama is above or on par with anyone in the country talent wise especially defensively.
