When Chiz was first hired, Bammers assured us there was no way Chiz and AU would come close to the recruiting juggernaut Saban has created.

Said recruits would rather play for championships instead of a 5-19 coach.

Two weeks away from NSD, AU is breathing down Bama's neck in the Rivals rankings. Bama has 3 more slots and AU has 6 more slots (I think). AU is sitting pretty with a 5* RB.

So is it possible that Chiz will have a better class than Bama in a year that Bama won it all?

will the football gods allow this manner of sacrilege to come to fruition?

No, since Chiz told Howard he can play RB, I don't expect Latt to sign.

It'd be kinda nice, but we're not catching bama.

The Barn has guaranteed playing time.

Bama offers guaranteed bench time and/or redshirts.

Yet Bama is recruiting just as well as Auburn.

So...gtfo.

Short answer, yes. Biggest reason, early playing time - the same thing Saban sold the last two years.

Now let the AU-Bama pissing contest begin in earnest.

Insecure gumps, rally to your team! Lets here about Saban, championships, Gus leaving, etc.

of course! but you know, our last two classes were a combination of both NEEDING a TON of players and talent AND superior recruiting jobs done by our coaching staff.

Auburn's cabinet is empty. they could recruit any position hard because they need it. so it's not exactly level playing ground even in SPITE of winning a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and an SEC CHAMPIONSHIP.

the easiest thing to recruit with is the whole "immediate playing time" thing...

but yeah, i could see them beating our recruiting class.

it's all about what you can do WITH that talent... See Utah vs Bama in the Sugar bowl... and then see LSU over the last two years. big difference.

barn is rightfully selling early playing time, just as Bama did in '08 and '09. Bama's cupboard is fairly stocked now while barns is almost empty. When BOTH teams have full cupboards, then we'll see who can out recruit who. Until then, it's really hard to tell due to circumstances with depth on each team.

As I understand it the final ranking only count 22 players. If so then that will hurt Auburn.

Going off of rivals rankings?

Barn commits in the 250: 6

Bama commits in the 250: 12

Right on our heels.

He may beat Saban in recruiting next year, but I don't think he ever beats Bama in the West.

I don't think Auburn will catch Bama in the recruiting rankings this year but they've got a good class regardless. The recruiting points mean very little when 2 classes have that much talent. It's about filling need positions and coaching them up.

I dont care if they beat us in recruiting this year. I care about what happens in Tuscaloosa next year. Recruiting obviously helps lead to success but recruiting is nowhere near my main concern. #3 next year is what matters.
