Why should the three undefeated untied rose bowl champions prior to 1950 not be national champions? That would make 11. Then you would be down to a team that went undefeated and tied the rose bowl and the 1941 team to equal 13.

in a way i want to say yes if using the same measuring stick as some of ours were... BUT, at the time when we claim ours there was no "BCS" trophy or any specific way to deem ONE team as the absolute champion. so, since auburn has to play by the rules of the TIME they were in when they went undefeated, then no.

I can't believe anyone really gives a frick about this.
Bama has more than NCs any team not named Notre Dame - and some of theirs are questionable.
Bama's tradition is second to none, and is considerably better than LSUs.

I recently did a calculation for AU using the bammer logic of 3rd in the SEC and at least a number 20 ranking in the AP poll = NC.
It was determined on the thread AU has somewhere around 30 National Championships.
Also AU has 13 undefeated SEC seasons, more than any other team in the SEC.
Maybe AU has about 40 NC's?
