Does Shula deserves some credit for this Bama NC?

Just like Zook did at Florida? He did recruit some decent players. It's not all Saban's guys winning the NC. I gave Dinardo a lot of credit for when LSU won the SEC in 01. He even had a few recruits in the first NC.

Absolutely not.
Does Saban deserve credit for LSU's turnaround this decade?
Absolutely.

I can give him, and his coaching staff, for finding diamonds in the rough, and getting them to Tuscaloosa. That's far as it goes. Shula developed nothing while he was at Alabama.

I don't see why not...
Some credit, however Shula would not have got us this far because a lot of the key cogs are Saban recruits playing early.
Key Offensive Players from Shula
Drew Davis, Mike Johnson, McElroy
Key Defensive Players from Shula
Reamer, Javy, Marquis Johnson, Lorenzo Washington, Brandon Deaderick, Justin Woodall
Not counting Ro, he was recruited by both, but let it be known he would have went to Alabama regardless.

Saban is winning with Shula's players. Can't have it both ways, gumpies.

crazy how they throw one of their own under the bus.
last time i looked, shula played for bama and coached at bama. he also recruited many of the players on this roster.
give the guy some credit for once.

I love Shula, just not as a coach. Javy almost quit football when he played for Shula. Saban talked him out of it.

I think we have to beat Teaxs first. Then we can worry about the credit.

I'm not throwing Shula under the bus. The guy did some good things, but there came a point where blaming sanctions for losses was absurd. He would have been a great coordinator, and QB coach, but he wasn't ready to be a head coach.

Dave Rader does for finding Javier Arenas. These players, however, would not be anywhere close to the ballers that they are without Coach Saban's staff. Also, many of our players weren't recruited by the previous staff. So, maybe a little on the finds, but none in who they have become.
Javy almost quit when CNS arrived. Thank CNS for convincing him to stay.

Saban is winning with some of Shula's players. Although 3 out of 5 offensive linemen, most of Alabama's receivers, the tight end and Alabama's top two running backs are Saban's recruits. That's just on offense. However, if you do want to say that Saban is winning with Shula's players, that's fine with me. Saying that is a huge compliment to Nick Saban. Afterall, Shula never won anything with his players. Imagine how good Alabama will be with all of Saban's players in there...

No offense coonass but yall boo your own and yes half of that defense is Shula recruits. No way he does with them what Saban has done

I would give credit to the Pensacola strippers who got Price fired.

I am very grateful to Coach Shula for holding our program together when we needed a good man, which is what he is. For all that he did well, he deserves credit, and credit is given. But Coach Shula was not a good developer of talent, recruiter of talent, disciplinarian, or gameday coach.

I agree.

You can't give Shula credit for hardly anything Arenas has done. He recruited him to Alabama as a running back and wasted his red shirt by just having him back there returning punts and nothing else. When Saban was hired, Arenas came into his office to talk about leaving for another school. Saban convinced him to stay and developed him into a great defensive back.

I was glad CMS took the job, and at the same time I knew he wasn't the guy. Maybe all the Miles haters could take a lesson from what Bama went through trying to get a good coach.
I don't care whose players they are, or who recruited them. They're going to Pasadena and that's what counts.

Shula is a good coach-I guess that 10-2 season he had at Bama was a fluke eh? In time, Bama would have been good under Shula.
If you don't finish the job and win the NC...you stll have nothing!!!

Yes it was a fluke.
Alabama would never be where it is now with Shula as the HC.

You are correct. We are talking about Alabama not MSU. Our expectations are higher.
