Do you think Saban would be having this problem at this time if given the same guys to work with?

LSU is as talented as anyone in the country and due to the in-state talent and what they cherry pick elsewhere, that isn't gonna change. They played hard Saturday and despite being dominated statistically, were in position to win the game in the 4th quarter. I see Bama and LSU fighting it out for the SEC West for the next several years.

Alabama hasn't had too many dumb penalties, outside the delay/12 men in the huddle on Julio, and a couple others earlier in the season (cue, well 'Bama pays the refs comments).

I'll admit we have the recruits and probably always will to a great degree. This is more about Saban's ability vs Miles'. Concern is warranted at this point.

I think guys like Saban, Meyer, and Carroll are more likely to play a freshman. I have no idea if this is a question of better talent evaluation or something else. I do think you would be foolish not to play a guy like TR, Harvin, Reggie Bush, Tebow, Julio, Hightower, McKnight, etc though.

I think Talent levels are equal, now and will be for next several years. This is LSU down year and we are still top three to five. Next year we may send you instate Four stars as it is the best class ever in the state of Louisiana and we just dont have room for all of them. The difference is not on game guy like some many of you think. Saban may be a little bit better gae coach than Miles but the truth is most of plays called by OD and DC's in both systems, not matter what you think you cousin told you about Nick. He has finalk say just like Les but uses his veto power wisely. (You have too.)
The difference is discipline. Saban teams have always had it. Our teams dont always. Not just staying away from nightclubs, Miles has done a decent job here, but staying in position, avoiding stupid plays, thinking team first, running the correct routes. That is why he went ballestic in the game. Coolio made a very bonehead undiscpline like mistake that was costly. He does and will not tolerate that. I bet he ran laps or was punished for days, and that all Nick talked about not his big run.
That is your one single advantage over us, and it is considerable. That is Saban's real gift.

Do you think miles tends to play upper classmen simply because they're upper classman? You got kids coming strait outta high school that are better than juniors and seniors. I think that's the difference between miles and saban. Saban doesn't give a frick about age. He's playing the best ppl regardless of age. It just seems like lsu has a bunch of young studs that aren't getting enough pt.

JMO but I think every team has gaps to fill every year. When Perrilouex didn't pan out it left a significant gap at a key position. A position where an elite team has to be at a least stable. I'm not sure if JJ or JL are there yet and it was the difference last year and probably this year.
While I don't agree with some of CLM on the field calling I do believe he is a good coach and a good program CEO. It's just the ebbs and flows of collage football that has LSU where they are. Having a dominate team for 5 years in the SEC is just unrealistic; but having a consistent winner is. Which LSU is.
Same for USC and they have hardly the competition of LSU. Just my ramblings though.

All I can hope is that he's building something special, and he knows what he's doing. For the moment, I would rather have the results of Saban in the here and now. My philosophy would be the same. Put the best out there right now because it's of most importance to win "right now". It was last week, it will be next week.

Very, very reasonable. Thanks, General.
