per Todd McShay on sportscenter
he said that he can lead Ole Miss to an SEC West Championship and that he is the NFL prospect people will come to know once the season rolls around.

Butch Davis thinks he is the best QB in the country.. in the limited time he has seen them all...

There's no doubt that Snead is an elite QB, but I still think Ole Miss as a team is being over hyped. Fortunately, they have to play the Tigers so we'll find out on the field.

What people fail to realize is that Snead's season was mediocre when you take out the Malveto and Texas Tech games. He lost them the game at home to a way inferior Vandy team with 4 INTs. And he was basically a 50% passer in the rest of their games like Auburn, Bama, Arky, Scar, etc.
I'm still not convinced that he has the intangibles that makes a great QB. He is pretty mechanical and his feel for the game looked questionable at times.

snead is good no doubt and ole miss fans better hope they win the west this year because i think snead is gone to the nfl at the end of the year, and they will resume their role in medoicrity

He is definitely good bc he may be the most physically gifted QB in the country. But that doesn't mean he's a great QB. His performance last year speaks of someone who is still a work in progress.

After reading your post I went to youtube (admittedly a highlight film) and checked the kid out. Your definition of mechanical and mine must be different and he showed great pocket presence with very nimble feet. He was throwing 30-40yd lasers while displaying a deft touch on sideline routes (especially against us). Frankly, he looked very tangible and I can see why people are very high on him. JMO.

I can't wait until this Ole Miss crap is settled on the field.
They're not THAT good.
They're not THAT good.

too bad Ole Miss has to play actual games this year, as long as they aren't playing they keep getting better and better

I didn't deny he's a great talent, hence the great highlight film.
But they lost to freakin' Vanderbilt mostly bc of him, and the statistics in all the other games don't lie. I saw him throwing balls over his WRs head the whole first half against Auburn, for example.

How did Stafford look in his first season? Just saying he did start looking better and better as the season went on.

True, but I don't know how much of that was bc LSU and Texas Tech's defenses sucked balls.
Stafford got better, so Snead certainly could as well. Jordan Jefferson too considering people criticize him when he was a freakin' 18 year old true freshman, especially when you think that Snead was a redshirt sophomore. I'm not sure that Stafford ever became a great QB though.
At worst, Snead is certainly a good QB and a heck of a talent.

With Matthew Stafford and Moreno in the same backfield how will anyone beat UGA

It helped. It was the throws he was hitting at the end of the season. After the Auburn game, everything seemed to click. Remember the drive that put Ole Miss up 21-3? Those three money throws. That's what we're talking about. Few defenses could have stopped that drive. Realize I am biased though.

work in progress, sure - but he made great progression. And if it's about progress, then he should pick up where he left off last year, playing great.
The hype, i think, has been earned. especially when you see the other QB's in the SEC he's supposed to be compared to. Tebow, sure, but who after that? Pretty much everyone else has an average of 3 starts, if that.

Yep, those were certainly awesome throws.
The rest of the game though, blown coverages, like the ridiculous one on 3rd and 50 on the first drive.

Like I said, I don't doubt that he can make throws that few others in the country can make. But he also threw quite a few bad INTs, missed some open receivers, and didn't show great instincts at times.
We shall see. We will know a lot more in about two months.

He was a first year QB... plus our offense throws the ball down-field a lot. 15 yds per completion last year (3rd in FBS) and we hardly ever run screens or shovel passes.
He's slightly overhyped right now, but what's not to like? He's the total package physically and was hitting his stride at the end of the season. Most importantly, he's a leader, which is vital for a QB. We can talk about stats all night but that is definitely one of his strongest traits.

I got complete faith that Nutt will strict him to power run and wildrebel plays so much that when he does throw it will be ineffective.
