At Air Force he was a good pitcher, not a great one.

Skenes was a First Team All America selection at Air Force, so I'd say that qualifies as great. He was also selected to play for the US National team before ever coming to LSU.

Same for me :dude:
Bummer no one in the California league :(
I would go to all of the home games if I lived closer but given the distance I will only be able to make 1-2 games. The Alabama game for sure.

If you want to argue he’s not the best, then fine. But horrible? That just makes you look stupid.

Don't you know it's the players that make LSU great, never the coach! LOL (sarcasm btw)

Speaking of which - I didn't mind them skipping the battle scene at Highgarden. But doing so made it seem like the Tyrell forces presented almost no resistance even given the advantages of numbers, resources and a fortified position.

Exactly. Highgarden was still a castle, right? So how'd they take it so fast? I didn't see any siege towers or anything like that. The way they skipped the battle it's like someone on the inside just opened the gates for the Lannister army to come in and sack the place.

If we are honest, FSU is more likely to play for a national title in the next three years.

They have another Jameis Winston?

I wish our theater had reserved seating.

Yeah, gotta love reserved seating. One of the great reasons I love IMax, especially for an event type movie.

Wow, a local TD poster.

Hiya neighbor. Didn't realize there was any fellow TD posters in the area.

PS good luck hanging on to Harbaugh. Rams need to make a big hire and Harbaugh has gotta be on the short list.

When he kept looking after Houston turned him down, it was OVER. The fact that O didn't see that is a little troubling.

Who says Coach O didn't see that? Or was even waiting on Kiffin after that or even before? Obviously things have been taking place behind the scenes as evidenced by the original post.

Also, do not discount the growing fact that KIDS today don't want to leave their home areas in droves. They love to play as locally as they can, particularly lower income top flight Florida athletes.

Not true. Kids leave their home state all the time and that hasn't changed. As another poster pointed out for every Louisiana kid LSU doesn't get we pick up a great athlete from out of state. Your whole post is off base. We will continue to recruit Florida and Kiffen and Strong will have little, if any, impact on that. Think about it a moment - how many players from FAU are in the NFL compared to LSU? NFLSU baby!! And that's not even mentioning the chance to compete for an SEC and National title. Let's hope Coach O and Company can convert that talent into another National title.

So why'd he go to UM at all, considering he had multiple job offers from multiple NFL teams?

Big difference between simply staying in the NFL vs staying for the right NFL job. Perhaps last year none of the available openings were appealing. While it would require rebuilding (something Harbaugh has done before), LA might be more attractive for a number of reasons especially given LA can throw as much money at him as needed - 10 million wouldn't be out of the question I don't think.

3-7 against Saban

My mistake then. I saw 5-7 somewhere but I guess two wins must have been against Bama before Saban.

If he goes this route, he loses his buyout payments. He has to make a good faith effort to find another coaching job.

He hired agents and no doubt their work behind the scenes would constitute "good faith" efforts. No harm in doing some TV work in the meantime. I think many of you guys are underestimating the respect Miles has nationally and I think - if he wants it - he will get another power 5 job. Resume is too good and he's too good a recruiter not to. Losing to Saban multiple times isn't a career killer especially when you factor in Miles has been one of the few coaches to beat Saban - 3 times in fact.

Edited to correct number of wins

When Texas came to the table Alleva got upset and went home.

We threw up the white flag.

Who gets upset and has pride while negotiating?

but yea "TEXAS IS HIS DREAM JOBBBB!!!"

Did you read any of the coverage regarding what happened? Doesn't sound like it from your negative comments. The reports I saw indicated Herman agreed in principal to a contract, then that info got leaked (likely Herman and/or his agent) to Texas boosters to put pressure on Texas to get rid of Strong and pursue Herman, and then Herman demanded more money from LSU knowing Texas was going to get into the mix. I am not a big fan of Alleva but he was absolutely right not to offer more money to someone who didn't honor his verbal agreement, was clearly trying to use LSU for leverage and who is still unproven (ok so Herman has a couple of great wins but those are overshadowed IMHO by some inexplicable loses to less talented teams).

Sam Houston State has only 26 plays and yet the nation's most dynamic attack

Longo’s system has some tweaks from Leach’s Air-Raid and other offenses. He makes a point of putting less on his QBs. Instead of having his quarterback put the running back in the right spot, call out the protection, ID the front and the coverage and manage “a list of like seven things,” Longo explained, he wanted to take more off his triggerman’s plate.

“The guy that is the most important is the one I was asking to do too much,” he said. “I just want him to execute the play. Our quarterback gets the signal, IDs the coverage and takes the snap. We delegate all the QB’s duties out to everybody else." * * *

Like Leach, Longo doesn’t have a big, ever-expanding list of plays. There are only 26 plays in the Bearkats' offense. Longo used to have over 100 and he wanted to run it all, but "you just can’t coach and excel at that many things."

Sounds pretty good...but that would be a big jump. Gotta be someone just as good with Xs and Os who has done it against power 5 defenses.
Bought tickets yesterday for my 2 sons and I for 12/15 - IMAX with reserved seating. Gotta love it.
