Say no to Nashville for the SECCG.............

I love the city. My Mom lived there for 8 years. My brother went to school up there. I have been to Nashville countless times.
Playing the game at LP Field in December is a terrible idea. First off there's a good chance the weather is going to be terrible. I've been to LP Field in snow, sleet, and 20 degrees. Some would say that's football and I agree to a point.
It changes the whole game though. The weather shouldn't effect the outcome of such a big game. For instance last year. I think 20 degrees and snowy would've definitely helped Bama last year. Screw that.
One other point that shouldn't be overlooked. Have you seen LP Field in December? It's terrible. Usually about early November they rip up the turf and lay new stuff down in between the hashes. TSU plays there. They constantly have concerts there. They turf is terrible.
Lastly, if we were gonna have a rotation where else would it go? You've seen first hand what the travel issues do. The SEC basketball tournament this year? Empty stands at the ACC and Big 12 games.
I saw somebody mention Memphis. Where are you going to play that game at? We easily fill up a 72,000 seat dome in ATL. Memphis may hold 60,000.
Get this rotation crap out of your minds. There are no other suitable places outside of Atlanta and New Orleans.

It's crazy to mess with something that ain't broke.
Nashville isn't exactly a great SEC city. Atlanta is.

New Orleans should get it every so often.

Atlanta's a great location, it'll never come to Nashville because of the elements in December. Atlanta is a fabulous location with the Dome and the World Congress Center.

What does that mean?
Nashville is a very awesome city. Vandy is in Nashville.
Atlanta is not even an SEC city.
It would provide the least home field advantage of anywhere in the SEC. It is a great place to go. The only negative is the cold.

This statement is a given from at least one LSU fan every single time some thread like this is started for a championship game/tournament. Doesn't matter if its baseball, basketball, football, or whatever else. New Orleans is one of the least centralized major cities in the SEC. There is nothing wrong with Atlanta and the Georgia Dome and there is nothing wrong with the Hoover Met and Birmingham.

I've lived in Nashville and Atlanta
Nashville > Atlanta big time
All that to say LP field has a terrible grounds crew. The field is always in bad shape in the winter. No to the SEC champ. game there.

It should be played in a city with a dome.
New Orleans would be nice.

while a longer ride to Orlando I agree with you.
Of course id love it to be in nola every so often but I see why it wouldn't be. The champ would be back in nola in a month.

No to Nashville.
1. Bud Adams
2. The field, as mentioned earlier, is terrible. (painted dirt more like it)
3. Weather in early December can range from freezing rain to sunny 70's.
4. Kige will be outside the stadium in Titans gear.

having the sec title in cold weather would suck balls

The ACC is waiting for the SEC to leave Atlanta. They would jump at the chance to book the Georgia Dome and the SEC would never get the chance to play another SEC championship there again. If the ACC ever got its foot in Atlanta, they would never leave that city. They tried the ACC championship in many venues and all have been a bust.

Which is why I've suggested that if the SEC CG in football is rotated to New Orleans, that year Atlanta would host the SEC tournaments in both baseball and basketball. And vice versa for when Atlanta hosts the football CG.
Believe me, I'm fully aware of how greedily the ACC is eying Atlanta for a CG site.

There's no reason to move it from ATL.

I would. The stadiums there suck balls, and there are no plans and no money available to renovate.
The LSU loss to Iowa was hands down the worst bowl experience I've ever had as a fan.

It is kind of fricked up that GT is actually in Atlanta yet they can't have the ACC championship game at the Georgia Dome.
