With Beshear exploring a run for Dem presidential nomination I would say his comment about concerns about “partisan” influence may be revealing his motives in posting this.

Maybe he can use his influence to figure out why Mark Pope is still gainfully employed by the university.

That's exactly what it is. He didn't like the school's choice.
The choice was the judge in this case.

His statement is carefully worded BS. It is a true statement that only one candidate for the Law School Dean's position was recommended by the faculty, but that does not mean that person was the only candidate.
You can always tell when the junior lawyers and the marketing babes team-up to craft a statement. It will be technically true, highly misleading, and with all the floral language that keeps them out of court.
Beshear is a complete fraud that is term-limited out as governor and positioning to make a run for POTUS. He's in a red state and has said little about Trump until the last few months...when he suddenly developed an opinion.

Andy Beshear let the BLM riots destroy downtown Louisville during COVID lockdown while simultaneously sending police units to churches that refused to close and took down license plate numbers.
I don't care if he is technically correct about the Dean being picked by a donor and circumventing the BoT, because the only reason he has an issue with it is because the new guy undoubtedly leans conservative.
The BoT doesnt like being circumvented because they want to have the power to get and pick these hires, which is their right. They have the ear of the governor because he appoints them.
It's all political posturing. He tossed the barb at Mitch's Golden parachute in there as more cover for unearthing the corruption going on at the school.
He isn't wrong but I don't like him either so frick him and frick UK for all the good ole boy nonsense we've got going currently.

I really can't think of anyone I know that is willing to defend this BS. It is entirely unnecessary. Mitch has plenty of money. Just retire. If the AD wants to give him a courtesy box or seats, fine. No one gives a crap about that. $950K for a job with no real responsibilities?
What most people don't know is that up until about 8-10 years ago, all of UK's living former Deans and Presidents were still drawing full salaries as Emeritus Professors in their respective departments. Medicine alone had something like 4 mil of salary on the books for a group of people that didn't even have offices. In fairness, that has been cleaned-up, but it was ridiculous that it was ever a reality.

He sent the Kentucky National Guard. And KSP. Not sure what else he could’ve done at that point.

Beshear is the scum of the earth. There is not one person in the Commonwealth who will publicly support the Barnhart deal, so Beshear gets no credit when he slithers in to piggy back on the drama for all his other political motives.

Yeah, this was weird considering the Barnhart thing has been known for a while now.
And Barnhart should excuse himself. And why haven't we hired an outside AD, and why is eli still President? What a mess.

In fairness, Eli fundamentally transformed UK's campus and grew the institution tremendously. And that's not just the undergrad campus, but also UK Healthcare.
I don't think he's been a bad president, but it is time to make a transition plan.

I see. He wanted a judge who will twist the constitution to be whatever Dims want at the time.

Agree to a certain extent, but this Barnhart deal just taints everything, and it seems just so out in left field and there was no real need to even go there.
