ESPN greed will keep the game on life support for as long as they can squeeze an extra dollar out of it, or until the teams involved start sitting their starters. There's generally no upside to playing in the game, unless one of the lower-ranked teams needs an extra win for their resume to try and sneak into the playoff.

It's a pointless endeavor at this point.

Could 4th place play 5th place for the fourth spot that SEC wants in the CFP?

Makes me nostalgic for the old bowl days, where winning the national title was more of a quirk of fate than anything else, and conference championships were really important because it was the only one you could actually control.

If it is still around, Auburn won't be in it.

Despite what Kirby says, it’s not fun anymore and is not the achievement it once was. Me in 2002 would’ve been beside myself happy with winning 2 straight SEC titles. Me in 2026 honestly forgets that we did it at all.

Also, I lowkey don’t like MBS - especially the TV product. Can’t put my finger on it but the Dome just felt like a cooler place to play those games. Maybe I’m just lost in my nostalgia.
