Before Bruce, Auburn was one of the 3 worst programs in the SEC all time, alongside Georgia and Ole Miss. I'd say Auburn has moved out of that position thanks to Bruce, and as a result, South Carolina is in the basement now, but you're playing fast and loose with "once proud."

It’s is very common for Auburn to just claim national championships. Almost as common as UCF to claim one after beating them.

That's damn impressive! Y'all should move now to lock down Stephen Pearl for the next ten years at a minimum. Winning pedigree with a championship resume? Where else are you going to find that?
