LSU is committed to winning. shite costs money.

If you don't take risks, you only rake in small pots.

It also goes hand in hand with the LSU fan base. Manic af.

I dig it.

That's the risk they take.... but the glory is worth the shot.

LSU is like the guy on HALO that only plays with a rocket launcher.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. But, that is a LOT of fricking money for college sports. Gonna be a lot of people without jobs if this shite backfires.

100%

If those people didn't want to be in a volatile field, they should have chosen other paths. I admit, I'm interested to watch y'all's trajectory.

I don’t think gambling $200 million for any coach is worth it.

It seems the people who tout “money is no object” are always spending someone else's money and not their own.

LSU football now has a 20,000 member waiting list for season tickets in football. Wade is going to rebuild the broken LSU basketball fanbase that has eroded that last 4 years. They are investing in coaches. If you can get a coach like Saban, you hit the jackpot.

The end of that article was beautifully written.

Looking at the numbers that Pete Thamel (I think) laid out, it's a very realistic gamble that makes sense.

One thing that really does bother me about this is that we could have had both of these coaches under the previous regime without having to spend all of that money.

Especially when you consider it’s a $200m commitment over 7 years, and it includes salaries, current buyouts, and NIL.

That’s less than $30m per year for the two highest revenue generating sports, and LSU’s athletic department revenue annually now comfortably tops $200m.

This isn’t the reckless spending or gamble some people are trying to make it out to be.
