Dear god yall were right about Manieri. For the record, I wanted Elander but was okay with Paul.
Not only did he sink our program further, but he stated today that the fans and media were impatient, and that his small 80 game era here would not change his feelings about his coaching career.
The last part fine, but over and over he told us that SC was close and he was here to win. The money he spent would indicate the program has better talent than when he arrived, but yet the program is far below where it should be.

ya'll told us he was trash, a dick, and flat out didnt care. I think maybe some of us felt that he would be able to elavate us to some super regionals before he retired again, I doubt any of us thought it would be this bad.

What y'all really should do is hire Brian Kelly ASAP to free up some money for us!

I just dont think he has the passion for it anymore. Not that he is a bad coach, he just lost the edge. Going to a rebuilding job at SC was never going to work because thats not who he is anymore.
Good on SC for making the call when it became apparent and not just hoping and praying for miracles.

after his runner up finish in 2017 he mailed it in at LSU
wasn't recruiting
wasn't doing much on field coaching
it showed when other sec teams were passing LSU by yet all he did was whine about this and that
the fans saw right through that BS

but funny enough he told us that the team was a game away from a super prior to him showing up and that this wasnt a rebuild. We gave him a top 5 budget. It shouldn't have been a "rebuild" .
So for him to say that is wild after he gas lit us.
*I agree it was a rebuild but just saying he told us he was here to win NOW

I mean to be fair that is any coach, but id take a young guy who was apart of a programs best run over a 70 year old who retired because he didnt want to recruit. There would be life in the program with Elander. When Paul started losing the spark left.

He should have stayed right here and continued living in the lore of LSU baseball. Dumbass could have lived out retirement as a legend. He knew he was out of his depth years before he “retired” here.

He never was a legend in my book. Good coach early in his career, yes.
He should have been relieved of his duties by the end of the 2011 season.

No doubt, he should have been voluntold to retire after 2017. It passed him long before he left, but you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think he was and would still be a legend here in Baton Rouge. People loved that guy especially after he retired and stayed close to the program.

He mailed it in for a long time at LSU. If not for that one natty he won in 2009, he would have been shown the door earlier. I just do not understand why he took that job, had he not taken that job, he could have been very involved in the BR scene.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s trash but his heart just isn’t in it and hasn’t been for years. He burned out years ago.

Based on his time in Columbia he is trash. Ive never seen article go so in depth and so negative about a coach as the one that was written by Whittle after the end of last season. Crazy thing is the former players and parents (graduates and transfers) agreed. He and Rooney mistreated players, often ending in injury. He is a trash human and it is showing by how he left.
I know for LSU fans it may be different, he did have success for yall and that covers up nasty sometimes, but when the losing hit...we saw just who he was.

I have no first hand knowledge but I’ve read over the years that he’s very old school and hard on his players. He learned from his dad who was also a coach. I don’t think that style plays well with the current generation.
