Explain to me why Auburn was obligated to hire Bruce’s by all accounts massive loser son

I keep reading that Auburn “owed” Bruce this? What? Is this not a hundred million dollar plus athletic program? In what backwoods hee haw sister fricking trailer park is that type of fealty owed to literally anybody?
And while I understand Bruce essentially grabbed the school by the balls and forced them into doing this in the most comically disrespectful manner possible, why was the kid not given an interim title???

Same reason why Texas Tech gave Pat Knight a retirement plan of contract.
The same reason why Houston will give Kellen a retirement deal to replace Kelvin Sampson.
Zero history basketball programs and prone to do this with just a small measurable amount of success.

I have asked the same question so when you find out let me know. Bruce was paid quite well to coach Auburn. We didn't owe him a successor.

Bruce made 2 final fours. Over his time at Auburn (11 years) he only made the tournament 4 more times and lost in the 1st or 2nd round every one of those. He only finished ranked in the AP Top 10 twice.
