Will always be the standards. Regardless. Period.

Still the standards in this conference for sure. Im 48, ive lived through and seen more than most here. The lore of both programs cannot be matched. Both may go through some down years(in Bama and UK standards) but, both rise back to the thrones eventually.

Always seemed to be a mutual respect and understanding between Bama and UK. We made this conference. One of the best conversations I ever had was at a Bama UK basketball game in Tuscaloosa, around 1999 or 2000 I believe, with some older UK fans sitting next to me. I was 21 at the time and it was just a pleasure to talk to the older UK fans at that time. Mutual respect and admiration for Bama football and UK basketball was a conversation I could have partaken in for days.

It will be a long time before we aren't the standard, but Kentucky seems to be declining. No reason to say otherwise till it changes. Pope may be the right guy, but he needs help with personnel and needs a GM, but he doesn't want one. Might be his undoing. We'll see.

This is the first bad year, but another like it and a change will have to be made.

Trust me, us Bama fans understand. Replacing Saban is...well, yall know, you had to replace Pitino at one point. My father always said when I was younger, UK will return the arse whipping we give them in football come basketball season.

Not looking good right now, but we have had worse times and come back. So has Alabama football. If Indiana can rise so quickly then Alabama can come back as quickly. We both have high expectations and will not abide mediocrity. Both programs are what others have aspired to be. Both have been very good for decades and won championships under multiple coaches. That is the common respect.

Similar but reversed. In Tuscaloosa for a football game tailgating with some Bama fans who were avid hoops fans which was a bit of a surprise at the time (pre internet). I was interested in talking football and they kept circling back to the basketball talk.

The one advantage of being a traveling UK football fan is the majority of the time you're not a threat and get fed like a visiting cousin. Believe we all put on about 5 pounds that day.

Peaks and valleys are just part of any program, uninterrupted success is a tough row to hoe.

We got rid of Calipari....if you think we're gonna frick around and let the program languish under Pope for very long, you are sorely mistaken. Our AD is the problem, and he's on his way out to retirement. I can't argue that the program is not currently at the standard Kentucky basketball is expected to compete at. But we will get it fixed, one way or the other.

Florida is the standard for basketball, Georgia is the standard for football, LSU is the standard for baseball.

Why are the Kentucky fans lashing out at me? Do you all really think Kentucky is still the standard in basketball?

Florida has clearly taken over the mantle this century. I didn’t know that was even a debate.

The Alabama administration screwed the football program by not listening to Saban about the 15 year Learfield deal.

Somebody stuffed their pockets with kickback cash and Saban hit the road.

The current state of the Bama program is the result.

Well...that just isn't even remotely true.

Using "this century"
Kentucky has won the SEC 10 times.
Florida just 6.

Kentucky has won the SEC Tournament 9 times.
Florida just 5.

Florida just beat us in Gainesville the other week for the first time since 2018.

Some of you just aren't living in reality because UK had a couple of bad seasons at the end of Calipari's tenure, and we're now into Year 2 of the Pope era, which yes, I am not optimistic about.

In the last 10 years, Alabama has won 2 national championships and 5 SEC championships.

September 2023...

LINK

Saban was gone a few months later

"So I'm saying to myself, 'Maybe this doesn't work anymore, that the goals and aspirations are just different and that it's all about how much money can I make as a college player?' I'm not saying that's bad. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying that's never been what we were all about, and it's not why we had success through the years."

Are you Alabama fans that dense not to realize that Saban was scuttled?

I was looking more at Florida’s 3-1 advantage in national championships, along with the current status of each program.
