Just saw the report on Fox News. The damage from the ice looks terrible.
Bill Hemmer had the Mayor of Oxford on the show just now. She said the damage has brought her to tears. Looks like The Grove sustained significant damage. Sending our best from up here in Mizzourah. Hope ya'll have a quick recovery.

Sounds pretty serious. Hope everyone makes it through OK. We got lucky as hell here in BR that the storm didn't come further south.

Something like 90% of the town is without power. Trees and power lines are down everywhere. North Mississippi as a whole took a lot of damage

Hate to hear that. That's one of the things that gives our campuses their beauty.

No clue as I don't like in North Mississippi anymore. But I've seen a lot of pictures and the grove looks pretty devastated. Luckily, the oaks are strong enough not to get uprooted but a lot of large branches broke off.

Saw a video from another part of MS where a large tree located between two houses split right down the middle. Both sides of the tree fell onto the houses on either side.

Grid is going to be about eight weeks for full restoration. Oxford City and Lafayette County SDs already called out all week and will likely be out next week as well. Mayor Tannehill has been doing well and the power companies are doing their best. A lot of people got out before due to schools and UM being cancelled 3-4 days in advance.

From the pictures it looks pretty bad. I remember the ice storm back in '95 that was pretty severe but those pictures look even worse.

Zero. It’s all ice. Neighbors had a tree fall on their house and I don’t expect to have power at mine for some time.

We got about an inch of ice.
Never seen anything like it.
Thunder and Lightning and pouring rain in 28 degree temperatures. Tree limbs snapping every 10 seconds. Sounded like a war zone all night. Power is out and it got down to 0 degree windchill last night. Lots of people can’t leave their homes cause trees have fallen over blocking the roads. Send help!
