I think he has a bit of a point but I also think he assumes things will stay the same forever in terms of NIL/revenue sharing and also funding NIL. I don't believe that for a minute. There WILL be changes at least by some schools.

I don't have the answers and I'm not sure how it would work but I don't believe Bama will sit idly by and not figure out a way to overcome or out maneuver other big money programs. It make take several years or maybe even a decade but I can see it happening.

Another fatal flaw in his argument is throwing money alone at transfer portal guys is enough. Nope. You also need a very discerning eye as to who you bring in. While a portal guy might have all the skill in the world, is he a cancer in the locker room? Does he have a bad attitude? Is he coachable? Will he keep fighting to the end in a game?

IMO, this discernment is every bit as important as dollar amounts. The program that can find portal guys who can play but maybe are a smidge slower, a smidge smaller and won't cost you as much AND have a great attitude, will fight like hell in a game, in every game to the bitter end is huge. This discernment can (to a degree) can overcome randomly spending huge amounts on transfer portal guys.

If money is as big of an issue, is a private equity deal on the table? I imagine programs are watching utah with a close eye.

Cut rate Daddy Warbucks should probably wait until his investment scores a point in the playoffs before talking shite.

The day Alabama brings private equity into the equation is the day I cease being a fan or publicly associating with the university in any way. That's a bright red line for me.

We still have too many people who don't understand that money and money alone doesn't guarantee anything. Texas has had one of the most expensive rosters the past two years and look what they've done. Ohio st this season had an even more expensive roster than the year they won the NC and got bounced in the first round.

Money doesn't guarntee execution on the field, Money doesn't guarantee the player or players live up to their billing. There are just as many busts as there have been successes. Indiana spent about the same amount as Alabama in NIL money and won the NC.

The narrative that "Bama ain't got no NIL money!" is stupid and false. We have a top-10 NIL program. That's right about where I expect us to be - we aren't ever going to compete with Oregon, Michigan, or the Texas schools in the amount of money we can throw around, but we have plenty available to field competitive rosters nonetheless. If money could just straight up buy championships then the final rankings each year would just be a repeat of the NIL rankings, but of course that isn't the case. Everyone needs to settle the frick down.

Oregon is the brightest example of this. A Nike bajillionaire sponsoring the team with bottomless NIL, and they get absolutely wrecked every postseason. Texas isn't any better.
