That no call was egregious. You can't let an official decide the game, especially a semifinal playoff game.

edit: Not that a first down would have guaranteed an Ole Miss td, but you have to call that obvious PI

PI has never been called in that situation and probably never will and they sure as hell weren’t going to start by giving the first one to ole piss.
Suck it up black bears and take the L
you were lucky that Miami allowed you to stay in the game with all the penalties and dropped interceptions.

If it is a penalty on the first play of the game, it is also on the last play. Hell it would have been a ratings boom to go to commercial for 4.minutes then have Miami call a time out while the word got out. Then have one more play from the 20 for all the marbles.

Shame on the ref expert as that was well beyond hand fighting. Tells you how feckless the so called experts are.

This is an interesting take. That looks like clear PI to me, but if the refs weren’t calling that all game, they shouldn’t start on the last play of the game. That exact scenario happened to Creighton in the Elite Eight and I’m still ticked about it.

Um, you must be young, it was called in the Miami OSU NC game back in the day. They do call it.

Otherwise they should announce ahead of time, we will have one unofficaiated play. so the offense can shove the defender down on a break and be wide open.....

I’m good with the no call because I can’t see what the Ole miss receiver is doing to the defender but it looked to me like it was both ways. The ref probably had a better angle so I don’t have an issue with the call.

These Talking Heads just like to be contrarians. Same as it ever was. PI is almost never called in that situation.

I’m surprised that I haven’t seen many Ole Miss fans complaining about it. It’s usually not called there though.

No I wouldn’t for the same reasons I mentioned, but you think what you want.

Hand fighting is one thing. Pulling down WR is entirely different.

I don't like either team, but that was clearly pass interference.

When you normalize letting the officials decide regular season games, this is what you ultimately get.

I like letting them play on a final throw like that. But just ask yourself this. If the score line were reversed and an Ole Miss defender does that to a Miami WR on the final play of the game does the flag come out ?

The answer is Yes. 10/10 times the PI is called and there’s an untimed down left to play.

I don’t like dwelling on it because it is what it is and it also takes away from a game that was an instant classic semifinal.
