Baseball Pre-Season Thread

We suck royal taint at basketball.
So it's on to baseball season
We light tjis candle 5 weeks from tomorrow.
Cautiously optimistic about this season. I thought we would be horrible last year and we played over our heads. Bats came alive. Pitching was thin and it showed.
We obviously build around Hunter on the mound. And most of our offensive production is coming back.
Go Rebels. Let's play in June. And Go To Hell LSU!!!

Perfect Game came out with their Top 25 today.

Well see, this is the problem. I fully realize preseason rankings mean little, but they do have some underlying meanings. First and foremost, they vividly illustrate that since that natty Bianco has managed to totally take the shine off this program. As I have said before, things have grown stale, and I'm just not sure the powers that be have the gonads to sit Mike down and say what needs to be said.

We basically have the same team as last season, so it's kind of weird that we aren't ranked, but then again, it doesn't surprise me at all.

We've somehow lost our street cred.
More on that poll, six of the Top 10 are SEC and even USM is ranked. Wonder how our baseball budget compares to theirs? I'm sure it pretty much dwarfs it.

I think you can argue that plenty of teams took a step forward with their recruiting while still retaining the team and we only retained our team. I really do hope this is the last year for Mike and we move on to Godwin.

Errol is now an assistant coach at Georgetown. Nice to see former players get coaching roles.

He’s probably gone after this year anyway, but still huge for him in negotiations this summer when he’s drafted. And if he doesn’t like the number thrown at him he can always run it back next year.

So what do we have this year?
All I know is we return Furniss and Utermark who can crush and we picked up the guy from Murray state who rocked our pitching in the regional and return Hunter Elliot for the 10th season but know nothing else. Also know we return a coach who loses home regional games to Murray state and Tennessee tech.

I like the returning roster. Fawley should pick back up where he left off. Federico started off hot and then cooled off towards the end but I think he’ll continue to swing a good bat. We need Paino to be the guy they thought he was going to be, potential is there but I think he lost his confidence early in the year and never found it afterwards. I like the transfers Pacella and Bisetta who most likely start on opening day.
Pitching is a question as seems to be the case as of late. Need a good year out of Townsend and Waters. Hooks should be much improved as well. Of course Elliot is back on Friday so no need to say more. I’ve heard good things about the transfer Kelly but we’ll see.

He did that before that in my opinion. We got hot. The best thing that could have happened to the program is for Bianco to retire immediately after winning the natty.

I don't want a ranking. We're awesome at squandering that and making fools of preseason poll setters. I think we suck our own dicks too much when we're ranked, anyway.

10 days to go. I can't wait because things have been boring without any sports to watch.

We will have 3 or 4 guys in our lineup that are capable of hitting 20 homeruns this year. The big question mark will be is can the rest of the lineup get on base a decent amount so that all of those homeruns aren't just solo shots.

Really have no clue how they’ll be. It’d be great if they just didn’t suck. But the schedule is such a bitch in conference play
