There just weren't any superstars on this team.

Guys like Will Anderson Jr, Bryce Young, etc were good enough to make us feel competitive in any game even on the weaker end of Saban's career.
I feel like we had a bunch of role players and none that just stood out.
We need a few guys to break out and be DOGS next season.
The closest thing we had on the front 7 was Pierre and he was nowhere near as productive as Will Anderson.
Name a single player offensively that you'd expect to go pro and make an impact immediately.

If Will Anderson is the standard, we are doomed. That guy was probably a top 2-3 pass rusher in college football since the turn of the century.

Obviously you arent going to find another him, but my point was that Sabans last few teams were that good either we just had elite players.
This is what a team with no elite players looks like.
Ty was just enough before his implosion.
Milroe too before he was figured out.
We need a truly elite QB or we have to develop a running game around here.

Both would be nice. But beggars can’t be choosers

Correct. I honestly am worried for the RB position. I dont know if coaching has fallen off there, but they all sucked. OL play wasnt great, but my god I've never seen alabama backs go down so easily.

In the NIL era we aren’t getting those types of players anymore. Bryce Young and Will Anderson wouldn’t be playing at Bama in 2026. We either don’t have the money or aren’t willing to spend it. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a good team if we are good at talent evaluation and roster building but I have my doubts about this staff. Games are won in the trenches and our O Line has been terrible.

I just don’t think any of them are very good. #4 is ok in short yardage, Jam wasn’t the same after injury, the freshman and Riley need to hit the weights, Richard Young just looked terrible when he came in. I honestly thought he could be the feature back this season. Maybe we should re-introduce dear antler back into the program?

I was thinking about this the other day. Honestly, there were no guys (especially on defense) who were big time and always going to come up with at least one big play every game.
If I was going to rate our guys on defense on an “A” to “F” scale, IMO, we had zero guys who would be an “A” or even “B+”. On the defensive line, those guys were a “C” or maybe a “C+”. Absolutely no one dominant on the D line.
Any success Wommack had was due to his scheme and smoke and mirrors.
I’ve been saying since day one that CKD arrived ignoring getting difference makers on the LOS was a back breaking mistake.

Dogs generally aren’t created in college. They come in that way and are refined physically. Maybe you’re saying we can find some in the portal.
Similarly, deboer isn’t going to magically change his philosophy this offseason. He is who he is and either gets help making it work here or doesnt.

I agree. We gave to hope Keelon is elite.

During the Saban years we usually had household names at LB.
We haven't had that in awhile.
OL is the obvious priority, but we need some mean, hateful SOBs at LB.

I’m not sure there are many guys on this roster who would have started on the 2009-2020 teams

Nobody will be referencing the 2025 Tide when they reminisce about talented players.

There weren't any super stars on Indiana's team either.

We have a superstar reciever once the ball is in his hands….the problem is getting the ball in his hands without him dropping it

He wasn't a "superstar". He was a two star recruit who played at QB the last two years where he didnt play like a superstar. Indiana coaches took him, put him a system that hardly anyone makes mistakes, coached him up and turned him into a superstar. He was a thing other than a superstar before this season. The coaches and the environment they created helped in turn into one. He didnt show up as one.

I watched Mendoza play at Cal a number of times. While he wasn’t “elite”, he did flash a lot of potential and at times played really well. To say he was a nobody is patently not true.

And along with Jahmyr Gibbs, still didn’t reach his full potential at BAMA.
