Insiders say it's too focus on changes on the offensive staff.

Why would it take a meeting from Byrne to focus on that.
I’m a bit surprised there haven’t been coaching departure announcements today.

You don't know any insiders.
The AD meets with the head coaches every week.

I don't, but my buddy is pretty close to some. He runs in those circles... I'm too poor for that.

I would imagine it’s a standard “meet with the boss after the season” session that was probably done with Saban too, even after national championships, but I think it’s the safest of bets that the particular subject you mentioned will be discussed.

So who can influence coaching changes? Why are head coaches absolutely loyal to assistant coaches who aren't getting the job done? It seems like some HCs would burn everything to the ground then replace some position coaches.

Not sure if that’s true but i did hear that byrne has been “popular” with alot of folks very lately.

JMO but by Sunday night changes should be announced.
Then again, Mal ask Shula if he needed to make changes to his staff and Mike said "no, we're good"
Then Mal made the changes.

A modicum of context, please?

It shouldn't.
But it's Byrne's job to supervise DeBoer.
He needs to have the same conversation that Mal Moore had with Mike Shula.

Mike Shula refused to fire a couple of assistants, and by the end of the week he ended up getting them all fired..as well as himself.

Mike made the big mistake of listening to Ray Perkins on that call. Ray didn't believe Mal would fire Mike.

Because his former head coach told him Mal would blink.

Yep.
And when Saban arrived that January 3rd, by the end of the week he had purged the entire facility of anyone who had a shred of loyalty to Perkins

Maybe Saban's $800,000 a year consulting fee could buy three or four hours of film study and a couple of real recommendations.
If not, why not spend that money on NIL. The Sabans are doing ok financially.

Dave Radar is in the state of Oklahoma senate.
Kalen might give him a call to be his OC.

I might be ok with this, as long as he doesn't bring Bob Connelly with him.

quote:THIS. Thats why Shula was let go....Problem is if a coach has to be told to make changes, the coach already needs to be let go because he is proven to be clueless, which Deboer is.

Deboer is likely already a dead man walking. Its just not the right time financially or timing wise to make a change. So Bama is just trying to patch the situation and give Deboer one last chance for change....The best scenario for both is Deboer to take another job and they split ways clean.
If Deboer was smart, (which he isn't), he would see whats taking place and leave while he still has some reputation to cling to and just say Bama wasn't a good fit....Bama will be the HUGE winner here so we can get an actual good coach.

Not in January. I'd rather the hiring need not be brought on by any other impetus than termination. Do it on our term's not someone else's.
