Tennessee and LSU are nearly identical in the program ranking list. Here is a deep dive to determine who ranks higher:

National Titles:
Tennessee - Claimed 6 (2 AP)
LSU - Claimed 4 (3 AP)

SEC Titles:
Tennessee - 13
LSU - 12

All Time Wins and Winning Percentage:
Tennessee - 869 (.675)
LSU - 829 (.652)

Bowl Appearances:
Tennessee - 57
LSU - 53

Bowl Wins and Winning Percentage:
Tennessee - 31 (.544)
LSU - 28 (.538)

Perfect Seasons (1902-2025):
Tennessee - 3
LSU - 4

CFP Appearances
Tennessee - 1
LSU - 1

AP Top 10 Final Rankings:
Tennessee - 25
LSU - 22

AP Top 5 Final Rankings:
Tennessee - 13
LSU - 10

1st Round Draft Picks:
Tennessee - 47
LSU - 53

College Football Hall of Famers:
Tennessee - 26
LSU - 13

Heisman Winners
Tennessee - 0
LSU - 3

Head to Head:
Tennessee 21 wins
LSU 10 wins
Tennessee has a winning record in both Knoxville and Baton Rouge

Overall, both programs are very close, but Tennessee still leads in the majority of categories.

Verdict: Toss up that slightly favors Tennessee but angers everyone

Ah yes because college football has famously only existed since in the BCS era. Never understood LSU fascination with this argument. They have a good overall history that shouldnt be discounted

Historically, I’d have said UT without doing the deep dive you did. More recently, LSU has been the more relevant program.

it's the only era that matters to what's happening today. Not games played in 1902.

This year has shown how flawed the AP system was. LSU has more success in the modern era.

Yeah, but most of the Vols clout came from before the end of WW2.

Since WW2:

National Titles:
Tennessee - Claimed 4 (2 AP)
LSU - Claimed 4 (3 AP)

SEC titles:
Tennessee - 10
LSU - 10

Head to Head:
Tennessee 13 wins
LSU 9 wins

They are essentially the same stats lol

It just shows that we've had much more fun watching our team than you guys have had watching yours. Unless you sit around watching old games your grandpa had on VHS.
