2024 Cal @ Auburn. It was surprising how good their offense was a year later with Mendoza after they had trouble moving the ball in 2023 with a different QB.

OSU’s defense is better than any SEC defense-and he beat them.

The Indiana defense also shut down their Heisman nominated QB and round one NFL draft pick WR.

Sayin 21/29 258 yards 1TD 1 Int.
Not great but certainly not shutting him down, either.

Jeremiah Smith 8 rec 144 Yards 18.0 yac

What exactly is your definition of "shut down"?

Indiana could beat Alabama 49-48 and Auburn fans will be crowing from the rooftops that the Hoosiers "shut down" Alabama.

13 points beat them, granted Bama only scored 7 in the SEC Championship.

Sayin and Smith’s numbers are very misleading. He had a 52 yard catch due to busted coverage and caught a 47 yard Hail Mary on the last play of the game. Take those 2 away and it’s

19-27 159 yards
6 catches 45 yards

It will be delightful watching bama crumble. Gumpers will be on suicide watch.

Watched the video. Looked like when Auburn brought pressure, like most quarterbacks, Mendoza struggled. The question is will Womack bring pressure? I suspect a lot of early 3 man rush until we get down a couple scores, then he’ll dial up the pressure. At least that’s what has happened most of our games lately

Most of the defenses in the SEC suck eggs. All that matters is how he does against Bama's defense. Time to get off the SEC band wagon, as a whole the conference is no better than the big 12 and has fallen behind the Big 18.

The upper couple of teams are usually strong, the rest of us, muh. Really, this year Georgia is the only superior team in the conference. Tough for a Gator fan to say, but true.

Only in your fantasies. Alabama is a seven point dog and most everybody is expecting them to lose. We’re just happy to be here at this point.

This, but the opposite.

One dimensional Bama offense and zero pass rush defense vs the most balanced and well coached team in college football.

You should bet your trailer on Indiana to win!

Bama beat that UGA team on the road when we were healthy and rested. We’re healthy and rested again.

Not saying we’ll win, but this is the best version of our team and I expect us to show up and test Indiana’s fortitude before the game is over.

You can't just "take those two away". They happened and was a part of the game that says he was certainly NOT shut down. To shut a player down they would not get anything....or at least, very little.

ETA
Your argument can't be that if you take away most of his yards they shut him down.

You can take away the Hail Mary, but not the busted coverage IMO

I can see your point, but he is their "go to" guy, so I'm not entirely certain I would take that away. (I do understand that point, though, and could accept it) Even if you did take it away, they did not shut him down. (I understand that was not your argument)
