Read he is back in Court wanting 7th year and will probably get favorable ruling. Some say this is the end of College ball. I don’t agree.
Amateur ball ended officially with recent court ruling and the House settlement.
I say let him play but my question is criteria for earning degrees and being allowed to be enrolled.
If he can earn one Bachelor Degree and then enroll for another, would you not be able to officially belong to a team indefinitely because you are working toward a degree and enrolled and taking the minimum hours?
Therefore, logic would tell you Pavia could play till he’s physically unable or no one wants to pay him nil.
Ah, we’re going to see in the coming years 35 year old players with 4 to five degrees.

Stetson had a redshirt year and the Covid year. Lots of guys had that, including Carson Beck.
What Pavia is asking for is ridiculous.

They should mandate the players to be enrolled in full time class load and not guarantee them a starting spot. Benching a guy, no matter how talented he is, would be a hell of a motivating tactic. Or else coaches risk losing depth pieces or potential starters because some clown can’t break away from his school and find real work.

Pavia has stated that he will not be returning and will try his shot at the NFL, regardless of the outcome of the court.
FWIW, I'm not sure Pavia will get drafted. So we will see if he would rather return to Vandy (or transfer somewhere else) and earn another few million vs. getting paid a couple hundred thousand as an undrafted free agent. I mean the guy, despite his and families antics, is damned good at football, so it wouldn't suprise me to see some NFL team take a shot at him (or even go play in Canada).
Relatedly, Vandy landed the #1 QB in the nation, Jared Curtis, this past recruiting cycle. Curtis was ranked as the #1 overall recruit per 247 composite. Part of the allure to come to Vandy was to have a shot at playing Day 1 instead of redshirting. That's part of the motivation for him flipping to Vandy from UGA. So I think that also indicates that Pavia will be moving on from Vandy no matter what.
Also, Curtis is already on campus and has been participating in bowl practice. He can't play in the bowl due to rules, but there's been some glowing comments of how good he has looked so far. True Freshman QBs don't often make a huge mark, but if Vandy can pull together more than 6 wins next year, than I would call it a success for him. Let's just hope the 'Dores can hang on to Curtis if he's as good as they say he is. Prepare thy bottoms for more competitive Vandy teams....

How long before a 30 something invokes Right to Work law & sues for the opportunity to play college sports for pay?
Is it legal to limit a persons earning potential to 4-5 years?

Nobody wants to see or hear anything more from this pompous, ungrateful, disrespectful douche.

So the Lake Charles, Louisiana native decided to go home, and go to college. Enrolling at LSU, he got some sage advice from his mother. “She was like, ‘Zach, you don’t know a life without sports, so I don’t see why you wouldn’t continue now?’” Heeding those words, he tried out for the football team and became the Tigers’ punter at the age of 26. When LSU took the football world by storm and became national champions, Von Rosenberg was a 29-year-old junior.

That’s all good. I’m indifferent to Pavia playing another year or 10 years. If vandy BMD want to pay him, then hurray for good old American capitalism!

Good point. The legal battle coming is do players have to be enrolled in school or can they be looked upon as employees just like the janitors who clean the dorms.
If you go employee route, then as an employee, you can be fired in a right to work state. Therefore the question is as a player who’s employed, how does that square with those players not employed and receiving scholarships? Or, do all team members need to be employees and who gets scholarships and who does not.

The money train ends with his eligibility. If they want to give people 7 years of elegibility give it everyone, it would raise the caliber of play with all the transfers and early draft defectors. Don't make exceptions here.

But Stetson’s juco year counted as a year of eligibility. The precedent of juco years not counting was established after Stetson left college.

Serious question. Is Pavia still 5'5, tho?
