probably should not be doing as well as they are and are just a piss-poor coach or other decision away from joining the nobodies of college football.

I'll start:

1. Auburn. I always thought Auburn was a sleeping midget. They are in Opelika, and play in the huge shadow of Alabama in a state that doesn't produce the number of recruits needed to produce two elite state football programs.

They were great for awhile, but what put them back with the midgets was Georgia awakening as a sleeping Giant. Now they live in the huge shadow of two better schools that have more money, a bigger fan base, and better football programs.

2. Tennessee. The talent base in Tennessee just isn't there. The vols need to feed heavily from Georgia, Florida and other states with more and better talent. Again, the Georgia awakening may have punished Tennessee more than Auburn.

3. Nebraska. I mean - why were they ever a blue blood? In the middle of nowhere in a state that doesn't produce the level or amount of talent to remain elite. Once they started in on the coach merry-go-round, they quickly awakened the midget.

Current teams that are doing well, but are sleeping midgets:

1. Ole Miss. They need a huge hook to get into elite status. Kiffin provided it, Golding won't.

2. Clemson. They aren't really doing well this year, but made the CFP last year and are generally seen in the recent past as an elite program. Dabo's stupidity as to NIL is awakening Clemson's sleeping midget big time.

I wouldn't lump these two together at all...

Clemson has actually won two NC's and many conference titles in the past 10 years.

Ole miss has not won a NC or Conference title in 60+ years.

Ole Miss isn't a sleeping midget....just a midget whose coach left them on the altar of the CFB playoff!

If you want to go down this road, then Georgia should be listed. I mean you're going to include a team like Nebraska who has won 5 national championships , then Georgia ain't shite.

Your 1980 title was one of the weakest schedules to ever to win a national championship, only 1984 BYU probably being slightly weaker. You didn't play the tougher SEC teams that year and the only team you played that finished ranked was #9 Notre Dame in the bowl game.

Over Walkers career I think he played a total of 5 ranked teams and lost 3 of them. He beat Notre Dame in 1980 and #8 Clemson in 1982. However, in the Clemson game he was injured and only used as a decoy, rushing for like 20 yards total for the game.

And you're doing well now under Kirby because he copied the Alabama program, but if he goes, you're "just a piss-poor coach or other decision away from joining the nobodies of college football."

I'm not sure why you wanted to start a thread shitting on other teams, but you asked for it.

Even before NIL and a run of shite coaches the Vols still recruited very well. With NIL the Vols are doing even better. Your take is shat.

If Tennessee and Auburn are sleeping midgets, UGA is a midget currently on a step stool

I wouldn’t either Clemson has a surprisingly good history. Siaa titles, southern titles, acc titles, and natty titles. They even have a couple of undefeated seasons they don’t count towards natty claims which is more than I can say about some teams that won nine this past year

Also what does sleeping midget even imply? Wouldn’t an awake midget be more productive?

Nil exposed Clemson. Before nil, they paid for top talent and and venables is a great defensive coordinator. With him gone and nil levelling the playing field, Clemson is fricked. And good redience.

Totally missing the point of my post, but ... not surprised. Serious case of KDS with this one.

Bama’s schedule in 1979 was the weakest

only team in the entire history of CFB to play three - count em - three teams with double digit losses in the same season (and in consecutive games at that)

Lumping Ole miss in with Clemson is laughable. One won REAL national championships and the other one claimed a couple 60 years ago

Everyone is at risk. Everyone.

Alabama has been crap for extended periods of time and could again
Florida, Texas, USC a decade of sucktitude and mediocrity from what might literally be THE three “biggest advantage” programs in the country. Or at least 15 years ago would’ve been considered so

Agreed. I just think some are more at risk than others, simply because of the metrics of location, talent produced in their state, other teams in the state, etc.

But you're right. Everyone is at risk.
