Think of how much NIL was spent for SEC teams to be playing (not playing) In irrelevant bowl games and quitting on the season/team before it is over. Watching these bowl games is like lower level high school games.

4 SEC teams have already lost 20 players to their “team” (beyond those that timed out). SEC schools now how more turnover than NFL teams.

Nauseating how entitled this has made college athletes that have accomplished so little.

Other than a handful of players, NONE of their Names, Images or Likeliness has actual value. A majority of their value is that of the school because the school generates the interest. We barely even know who plays for us anymore sans 5-6 guys.

They aren’t student/athletes anymore. Most don’t even go to class or even graduate.

They are less committed than an hourly worker at a distribution center with similar long term life skills.

The money they are able to get should have always been long term and from accomplishments. Not short term and prior to doing anything.

I truly hope actual binding contracts and required commitments are in the horizon and upfront money goes away in lieu of longer term payouts. We aren’t actually helping most of these young athletes (not students) in the big picture.

bowl games should be at the start of the season
it sounds wonky but think about it. it would force teams to have an extra real (noncupcake East West Tech) game and would solve the opting out problem

Which is why I gave up on the NFL back in the day.

SINCE NILera, I said colleges should cancel all sport scholarships, like ivy schools.

NIL began at bamma in 2009, and ramped up at georgia in 2013. You may not like it that the rest joined in in 2019, but at least own it.

You don’t blame a child for being spoiled. You blame his parents for spoiling him. The fans have spoiled the players for the sake of winning and multibillion dollar entertainment.

There are two problems in CFB that have nothing to do with the athletes: 1) There’s way too much money involved in it and 2) No one is willing to stand on principle if it means losing games and grossly overpaid jobs.

Honestly, I like scenarios that create chaos and drama because that’s the entertaining to me. I hope Ole Miss wins the national title under Golding because that would be fricking hilarious. I wouldn’t bet on it, but I would love to see it. I also would love to see Carson Beck vs. UGA.

I like NIL, the portal, coaches leaving and getting fired left and right, fans bitching about everything all the time. I think it’s entertaining.

I used to think this was lame but then I compared it to basketball playing in off-campus early season tournaments. This would also eliminate pathetic non-conference/OOC games.

Pop-Tarts Citrus Classic Kickoff - would generate more publicity with the current antics they do to promote the silliness surrounding the game while having two quality power four teams.

“Big Name Sponsor” Kickoff In Paradise (where a majority of the Las Vegas strip is located) - big name power four matchup in a world class NFL stadium.

“Big Name Sponsor” Music City Matchup - power four teams from the region from different conferences.

“Big Name Sponsor” Battle At The Alamo - power four team from Texas vs. power four team not from Texas.

Each Power Four team plays one off-campus game, one G5 game at home, one home/away game on campus against P4, then open conference schedule.

I remember a P4 coach saying two years ago that the first question big-time recruits asked him was how much they could offer in NIL. The second question was how they'd be featured in the scheme. Very few cared or asked about winning. That told me everything I needed to know about the future of CFB.

They pretty much do this every year already

When you have fan bases who implore the win at all costs mantra and the team doesn’t win at all costs, you get a bunch of soft pussies in the fan bases who cry like hoes

They do but I mean increase the number of those games to where it replaces the meaningless bowl in the same venue at the end of the year.

I’m not sure why everyone thinks this is something new. College football has more parity than ever because every team can buy players now and the NCAA can’t pick and choose which team to punish for such action. I think it’s great. It’s on the coaches, schools, boosters to figure out how to get the most out of their money and players. Quit whining about it. It beats the old system by far. The SEC was very avg this year, they don’t have 80% of the market covered anymore. The game has changed!

It’s no longer a game. It’s no longer entertainment. It’s now a business and entitlement.

I’ve not watched a single bowl game. Canceled my sling subscription before December. I’ll still pull for my bulldogs but what has happened this bowl season with all the opt outs and teams not accepting bowls is just the most pathetic thing I’ve seen.
