Was watching a segment from SEC This Morning and Cheatnick seems pretty adamant Indiana is going to beat the crap out of Bama.
He may be right but if he’s not, I guarantee you he won’t have the balls to come back and admit he was wrong.
As I was watching, I was thinking “There’s a reason you’re not a coach anymore, genius.”.

This vibe reminds me of ND-Alabama championship week... Ya'll remember all the hype about ND and how they were favored to beat Alabama?

(a) Indiana has done way more than that Notre Dame team had (won @ Oregon, beat Ohio State)
(b) We are not the 2012 Alabama team in any way shape or fashion
Indiana has earned their pub. If we come out and play our arse off we got a chance to win, but we can't screw up for chunks of the game.

SoG, you're 100% correct. This has no resemblance to the 2012 ND game. Even if Indiana was a 2012 ND type pretender, we are not the 2012 Alabama squad capable of undressing a pretender.
We're going to have to play our A game to win this game. Don't let the helmet fool you. The divide between Alabama and any other power conference team isn't what it once was.

I see zero reason to dislike Indiana. Cignetti has built a great program that grinds teams into submission, plays with ruthless efficiency and gives max effort every second they are on the field. His teams look like Saban's early Alabama teams that had a burning desire to do everything right and in sync as a unit to win games, but maybe weren't blessed with Top 40 picks across the starting 22 (but still had a few).
If we play the way we did the last 3 quarters in Norman we'll give them all they want.

Theyve earned the #1 spot...but I dont believe their stats tell us much. They padded their stats with some atrocious teams. They did beat OSU and Oregon...but their QB still threw picks in those games. If he throws a pick against Bama, I like Bama's chances a lot

2012 was one of the greatest teams of all time IMO

I don't think their stats against half their schedule tell us a lot as it equates to them vs Alabama other than they are extremely consistent. But rolling up 50 on UCLA tells me very little. Going into Eugene and winning by 10 and beating Ohio State in their championship game tells me a lot. You don't fake those 2 wins. They are legit.
Now, they aren't super power unbeatable or anything, but they aren't going to screw around and beat themselves. We have to match their execution for 60 minutes.

Right, there are a lot of championship teams since 2012 that wouldn't have done what 2012 Alabama did to Notre Dame that night.
They're a flat 1st quarter v. Texas A&M after that war in Baton Rouge from probably being a legit GOAT team with a 14-0 record. I think 2012 may be Saban's best team but the blemish v. Manziel will keep them from ever being very high on a non-partisan top teams of all-time list.

I’ve never even heard of this person and none of you should have either.

I wouldn’t doubt a team as well coached as them. They are also going for Destiny. Thats a potent combination. However, I do think we can win, Oregon gave them turnovers which was the difference in the game, OSU special teams blunders. We have to play solid ball. There is a small tick in the back of my head telling me we have more talent than them.

It’s us against the world. This good for us but we need to have our best game.

Eddie Lacy ain’t walking through that door.
Having said that, this game reminds me of the 2006 Florida Ohio St NC game where all the pundits went on and on that Florida didn’t belong, got lucky all year, and that the Big 10 was so much better etc.

We are going to get our shite kicked in if the team shows up with your mentality. Indiana is a legitimately good team

We can win this game on depth alone if it comes to it, but we can't get ourselves in a hole (as we've been doing lately). I do like our chances, but it could turn very quickly if we come out flat. They won't gift us the game like OU did

Indiana has not played a defense like the one Bama has. Indiana is not as battle tested as Bama is. Indiana is a good team but they are not the world beaters the sports media is making them out to be. Bama will punch them in the mouth and we will see how they respond.
Bama 31
Indiana 23
Bama 31
Indiana 23

Ohio State's defense this year is as close to one of those Saban defenses that is nothing but NFL starters as we've seen since 2021 or 2022 UGA.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there - they played Ohio State, who has an elite DC and NFL guys at every level of their defense. Now they didn't play great, but they have absolutely played a defense of our caliber.

That’s right. I think it’s also correct to say OSU had a really bad game. Either way, we will find out really soon who is right .

How is their depth across the board compared to us? Thats what decides late in close games. Are they as battle tested as us? We won the OKie game because of the schedule we played, IMO. If they have adversity like we faced can they right the ship? Have they done this before?
Better teams don’t always win. Injury luck , game luck, refereeing often decide outcomes too. Lastly which Alabama team will show up? Roll Tide.
