A question for Auburn fans. Reading the Bunker, i see that

more players are hitting the portal than some fans expected, especially considering that one of the reasons Durkin was retained was to prevent transfers (according to some Bunker posters). Some of those fans also think Golesh is being tight on the money side, causing some of these players to consider the portal.
So finally to my question. Why would Golesh be tight on the money when it’s not coming out of his salary ?
Edit to note that i have an On3 account but am not approved to post on the Bunker

An Alabama fan just posted about Auburn.

And what ?
Actually, I asked a question. It’s a trash talk board, for sure, but there’s always a chance you might get an actual discussion.

It's just unusual. Please carry on.

As an Auburn fan it has never occurred to me to peruse a bama site.

I don't think you understand how revenue sharing and NIL works.

It definitely hasn't been a good start for the Russian.

I think some are not a good fit. I think some want more money. I think some just want to be at a different place. Hell, we had a walk-on say he is transferring.
From what I have read, Auburn football will have $30M this year. That tells me it is not about the money.

There have been a few that were disappointing but nothing abnormal in this new environment. A lot of people are just slow to adjust to reality. So far we're at like 22 or so in the portal, we've replaced 40 plus multiple times the last few years

We’ve got a new GM making G5 evals and valuations. Unfortunately, we’re losing some players we would really like to keep.

You’ve replaced coaches multiple times as well. It goes hand in hand.

We are losing some talent.
Some of it was talent that was highly touted, but for whatever reason, never developed into any meaningful playing time.
Some are thought to be bad scheme fits with the new offense.
Some were role players who were being paid like all-Americans.
A few were full-time starters.
From a discipline and accountability standpoint, Golesh is the polar opposite of Hugh. Some may not like the fact that players no longer call the shots.
This is a really weird time of year. For the next two weeks, all we will hear about are departures. We won’t know who’s coming until January.
The guy has been successful and built programs everywhere he’s been. He has a plan and I trust him. He’s doing what he needs to do.

We currently have an interest in the Auburn program because there’s a couple of wideouts that we’re about to pluck from your program. This is the main reason we hired your wide receivers coach.

Auburn has not “lost” a player yet.
Some guys say they are going to hit the portal in hopes of getting more NIL.
Don’t judge anything until the portal closes.
Then we can panic or celebrate.

Well it’s Golesh’s team, not Durkin’s.
Also who is entering the portal? Mostly defense, offense?
Also they may be using the portal to get more money out of Auburn, unless they’ve actually transferred.
