Hopefully he rebounds, he looked like the most sure fire NFL kicker I have seen in a while.

Not sure I agree with the 51 yard attempt. But guy had been money all season

Yeah I agree they should’ve tried to bring it in a little closer for him after his confidence was hosed on the previous kick. Thought that was a bit much of an ask.

I’ll eat crow and admit eereeweeree (or whatever) was right.

Not clearing the crossbar from 50 isn’t gonna cut it in the league today.

All bullshite aside. Even when we benefit (thank you Ohio State) I always feel bad for some kicker that comes in and blows it.

A bunch of big arse alphas have been fighting their arse off all game and the you trot in and lose the game. Not good.

51 yard attempt was missed because he had the wind to his face. In the first half the wind was to the back of Oklahoma and to the face of Alabama. And it showed in our opening kick off, and also the punts.

In the 2nd half, it was the opposite. Our punts were better while Oklahoma's punts were mostly terrible. And of course caused the missed field goals - as wind incoming and to the side slows the ball allowing it to travel more.

So after all the shite talking the Oklahoma fans have done about the wind this week, it actually ended up biting them in the arse.

I wonder why Oklahoma choose to defend with the wind that way, as I'm pretty sure Alabama picked to kick off.

He was kicking into the wind. BV should have taken that into account.

50 into the wind is still 50. I think he’s a good / accurate kicker, but he would have one of the weaker legs in the league.

We won the toss and deferred. Why would Venables not take the wind at their backs for the 4th Q!?

Seems pretty common for football coaches to have what I like to refer to as “very specialized intelligence”.

When Venables goes to sleep tonight, it may be the very first time thinks about wind.

He tied the FBS record by making 8 FGs over 50 or more yards this year.

I'm no expert on kickers, but that seems pretty damn good to me.

Like I said, accurate kicker. Does not mean he has a strong leg. His long is 55 — I think he is just better than most with accuracy at the edge of his range… but that is certainly the edge of his range.

While it shouldn't have mattered on the short FG attempt, I was wondering how much the wind would impact a 51-yard attempt. That was crazy to try.

I never feel bad for kickers. Especially choking ones.
