Advantage OU

Two struggling offenses, comparable defenses (though I think OU is better against the run & Bama better vs pass)

The only clear mismatch is special teams… in particular, OU’s kicker vs talty.

Talty is so bad that I remember his name (only kicker in CFB this is true of outside LSU’s roster). OU’s guy is a Groza finalist.

OU is gonna win this with FGs. It’ll be the worst playoff game to watch excluding the G5 mismatches.

Simpson has to make the throws if Bama wants to win. Bama WRs can take advantage of OUs secondary, but Ty has to start playing like he was in October

One starting DB done after shoulder surgery. Starting center got some random infection that put him in the hospital before LSU. He’s still out. Mason-Thomas has been the biggest weapon out of service since injuring his quad on the scoop and score vs Tennessee. Not ideal for a SEC matchup let alone a playoff game. Hopefully week off helps OUr guys

Alabama is putting the special in special teams this year.

If it comes down to ST, we're fricked.

Not sure about this next time but last time sure made a HUGE difference for OU, I was there and saw it in real time, Bama's ST felt very generous to OU for sure.

Only one I see here that maybe affects my opinion is the DB, since it was recent.

Post is based on the last 3-4 weeks of the season.

Your FG kicker is an absolute weapon in a game like this, compounded by the fact that Talty is “might shank an extra point at any given moment” level horrendous.

I’d be optimistic. Now, round two? I don’t think either team gets past IU. And I’m not shitting on anyone, they are just legitimately very good.

From what I saw on the field, Kaleb Edwards was gashing them some at TE BUT Cuevos was destroying them. They were not only giving him space but they couldn't stop him. He was open on a couple of other throws that Ty didn't see as well, one would have been a walk in TD. I think while we did work the TEs a lot, I would have kept throwing it to them until they shut that down...I felt like there were still even more opportunities we left on the field for our TE's...we really do need Cuevos back though, he was a nightmare for OU DB's in that game.

The DB, Williams, has been out since SC game. Was hoping he’d be able to play but they out the kibosh on it

Not just the kicker but the OU punter was also 1st team All SEC and OU has blocked several field goals this year. Lets hope it comes down to special teams!

I love good defense, but bad offense is a slog.

For example, B1G CCG was a fun watch — that game was 10-13. Whereas, LSU vs OU was moreso just bad football.

Thing is, Gentry Williams and R Mason Thomas didn't play in Tuscaloosa. Jayden Jackson (Starting DT and run stopper) only played 12 snaps. As you pointed out Williams is out. Hopefully Thomas and Jackson are healthy. Also, I'm hoping the OU offensive line is a bit healthier.

To be fair, Gentry Williams hasn't been a factor this year. Starters have been Eli Bowen and Courtland Guillory for some time now and they've been solid so far.
