Really hope they use the plans from a few years ago that included demolishing and rebuilding the home side

Ole Miss issued an RFP on Wednesday seeking a development partner for a mixed-use development project that would create an entertainment district on 25 acres of land surrounding Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The RFP calls for a 100-key, 30-condo condotel, at least 35,000 square feet of retail and dining space, a half-acre plaza on the north side of the stadium, additional premium hospitality offerings inside the stadium, including 20 suites and at least 12,500 square feet of flexible hospitality space, and roughly 50,000 square feet of athletic department office space.

Sounds like they’re wanting to do what the Braves did, which has been a massive success and brought in tons of money. I’m all for it

The RFP mentioned that any bids including plans to add 3,000 seats to the stadium and/or replace the stadium’s scoreboards would be viewed favorably.
3,000 is a massive mistake. I think you could add at least 8k, with potential for further expansions in the future.

3k would get us over the 70k attendance mark. I’m good with that number.

I like the plan for the surrounding area. I’ve always thought there was so much potential around that area, especially south and east of the Manning Center

isn’t official capacity roughly 65k or so? I know we’ve broken 67k a couple times, but I figured that was just because of students being crammed in there

I'd love to see VHS expanded to 72-75k seating capacity.

Just don’t give those tickets to the students. Give them to folks who will show up. And I may be getting fat (I am fat), but can we have more room in between each seat?

That's what we really need.

All businesses in that district have a percentage profit going toward the collective. Should be the case at least

I’m sure the moment we finish it the NCAA will make a rule forbidding that

Had those temp chairback seats in Starkville for the Egg Bowl. They were pretty comfortable but good lord were they packed in there. Entirely too close.

Try going to Tennessee or Florida. Seats are so close together at both of these that the rows spill out into the aisles because there isn't enough room for everybody.

Definitely agree that OM needs to get into the 75k+ish range. One of the biggest knocks is the stadium size.

Sucks in this day with NIL though - would have been nice if Freezus had stayed a little longer and gotten the upgrades before NIL kicked in.

More important than size is just making it all nicer. The stadium is as if someone chopped off 25% of 4 different stadiums and super glued them together

Size matters. At least that’s what she said.

The funny thing is that our stadium, except for the west side, is on the nicer side of the SEC if you actually go to the other SEC stadiums. For example:

- UGA: concessions suck, extreme lack of restrooms, small concourses
- Tennessee: Most of the stadium is stuck in 1970, seats are extremely small, restrooms are the quality of a port-a-potty
- Auburn: one of the most basic stadiums out there on the concourse level, concessions suck

VHS has come a long way from kids playing football under the north bleachers

Miss those days. Good times playing down there. Dodging the spilled beer and coke coming through the bleachers was another pastime.

Don't forget the plague of sweat bees that loved the spilled drinks.
