2 time defending National Champion 11-0 Alabama denied a 3-peat due to Notre Dame jumping from 5th to number 1 after a tie with Michigan St?! If so….I’m all in!

We don’t claim 1966 even though we were undefeated two time defending champs. I guarantee Auburn would claim it in the same scenario.

Half of all the old AP titles were just northern bias bullshite.

ND was the very worst offender.

We don't' claim 1966.

Auburn would probably claim it 3 times.

It's actually payback for the Irish (get the irony here) ended 44 years of not participating in bowls to play the Longhorns. In doing so the 8-1-1 Irish knocked a more deserving LSU team at 9-1 out the bowl.

That Tiger team only lost to a very good Ole Miss team lead by Archie Manning, who almost singlehanded beat them. LSU was third in scoring defense allowing only 9.1 points per game. I think the defense only allowed around 60 yards rushing per game.

Glad they lost to the Horns in that Cotton Bowl game and thrilled they are out of the playoffs. Hope they enjoy sitting at home.

That's not the only year we got screwed over due to ND bias.

Some of these grudges/payback have quite the shelf life, it appears.

That is not at all what happened in 1966. Notre Dame went into the Michigan State game #1 and stayed there.

Try 1977.

You are correct sir. Guess I'm getting old...lol. Got my years mixed up. You should read the missing ring by Keith Dunnavant. It is about the 1966 team. A great read for fans of college football.
