Final Playoff Spot(s)

It's between four teams for the final playoff spots
Alabama
- Do they still get in if Georgia beats them as bad as Florida State did?
- Worst loss of any potential at-large contender to the 13th best team in the ACC, Florida State
- Bama has multiple wins against ranked teams, highlighted by their road win over #3 Georgia
- Currently ranked #9 and the 5th best team in the SEC by the committee
- Can a 3-loss team make the playoff?
- Would the committee drop a team for a loss in a conference championship game?
- Alabama controls their own destiny, win and they're in
- Likely still in with a competitive loss in the SEC CG
BYU
- Win and they're in at 12-1, potentially a top 5 seed
- With a competitive loss to #4 Texas Tech, it would difficult for the committee to keep them out as they would finish 12-2 with the two best losses of any at-large team (both to #4 Texas Tech)
Notre Dame
- 10-2 Notre Dame's only losses were to #12 Miami and #7 Texas A&M by a combined 4 points
- Notre Dame has won 10 straight and looks like a national championship contender
- They lost a head to head game against Miami by a field goal in Miami months ago
- No wins over any other potential playoff team
- If Alabama and BYU win, Notre Dame is out
Miami
- 10-2 Miami lost to unranked Louisville and SMU
- They didn't make the championship game in the weak ACC
- They do have a head to head, 3 point win at home over Notre Dame back in August
- Some talking heads are hanging their hat on the head to head win against Notre Dame (yet avoid discussing their two bad losses)
- Unless both Alabama and BYU get blown out, I don't see a path for the 'Canes to make the playoff

Can a 3-loss team make the playoff?

No, in order ton get the Conferences to agree, the deal was an extra game could not hurt teams, because if that was the case there would be no use in playing the Championship games, if so the teams should be able to opt out. Notre Dame not being in a Conference never has that peril, so they can beat 10 no names and lose to the only 2 descent teams they play.
OU would be out if they just voted for real who was worthy and unworthy. someone is going to beat them 30-0. The refs stole the Auburn game and Bama gave them the game, they were crap, and they got away with blocking a FG by jumping and landing in an O-Lineman's back, wit his cleats. OU should decline and fire the coach, else in 4-5 years they will b e just like Nebraska. Yes you can be defense centric, but you have to be able to move the ball a little bit.
Not understanding why an extra game CANNOT HURT you is pretty bad on your part. It would make the Championship Games go away. Big Money will be in the Playoffs.

I won’t be surprised if the U gets the last spot over ND. Bama is most likely in.

And SEC's best team by conference rules.
I want Bama to run the table and believe they can. It's possible but not probable.

Texas didn't mention this last year as much as you guys have. Good grief.
There are rules to pick the two best teams. The winner is the best team.

OU averages giving up 1 touchdown a game. You couldn't even score a touchdown vs OU last year and you got whipped at home this year. Funny a bama fan is throwing shade at a team that owns them.

I really hate seeing any of these 3 (Byu, ND, Miami) make it in because of the cupcake schedule each played especially ND. Keep hearing they are on a 10 game win streak. Most SEC teams would win 10 in a row against that schedule they finished with. SEC should make it mandatory that 5 teams from the conference get automatic bids to playoff especially going to a 9 game in conference schedule next year.

Duke beats VA
Isn’t it Tulane and JMU?

You should know, you're a Georgia fan. 1-7 ring a bell?

Bama has to get blown out TCU-style (and probably DeBoer quitting on the field) to not be in.

First off Alabama is already in for two reasons. Like others have said many times over, the committee isn’t going to punish someone for playing in its championship game other than seeding.
The other thing here is Alabama already beat Georgia on the road this season. How could you penalize a team losing an extra game to a team they already beat. They won’t.

And bama was on the wrong end of this last year when SMU wasn’t punished for losing to Clemson in the acc title. Don’t underestimate how idiotic these committee people are though
