The B1G has won the national championship the past two years and is favored to do so again this year so it's probably best to be on an even playing field.

The new SEC nine game schedule will reduce the probability of an SEC program winning the national championship by about 17%.
In a 12 slot field you can expect the SEC to get four teams in next season.
And those four teams will be beat up from head to head play in those nine games.
Sankey didn't even used the nine game schedule as a bargaining chiip to try to get 16 slots.

da bare's way of doing business. That and playing an extra conference game before league set the number a school could play. bama won a few SEC titles because of that extra game. Team a and team b each had 1 loss. bama had that extra win. Better winning %.

A 16 team playoff is asswater
Every year there are no more than 8 teams capable of winning the tournament.
What we need to do is remove the 5 conference champion guarantee.
Getting teams to the field should never be the goal the goal should be winning it all and if you're capable of winning it all the 9 game SEC schedule will not change that fact.
