FSU QB Castellanos going to court to seek 5th Year

He never played for a non P4 school. Played at Boston College, UCF, and Florida State.
Is arguing that he should’ve be penalized for playing in 5 games, losing his red shirt his freshman year. States he only played that 5th game for:
So now we can redshirt players who played more than 5 games? And grant indefinite years of eligibility?
This crap is too much.

I've honestly been waiting for a lawsuit like this, and I have a feeling the courts may eventually say the NCAA can't limit how long someone can play college football, especially with the influx of NIL into the game

While I'm sure I'm exaggerating, it feels like the courts have pretty much decided to side against the NCAA in practically every lawsuit. Hard to imagine this one will go much different.

But it’s all players who don’t have a shot at getting drafted or sticking on an NFL team. They want to play college football for 10 years.

I honestly don't have a problem with removing eligibility requirements beyond "Must be an enrolled full-time student at the school making progress towards a legitimate degree."

Yeah, no. You have 5 years to play 4 seasons. If you play one game, that counts as a season. No one older than 23 can play CFB.

I don't get why they don't just throw in the towel on the last shred of resemblance to an amateur model. Just rip the band-aid off, turn them into employees and have a CBA. You can then set up a structure that doesn't get turned on its head every season.

And that’s what would make me stop watching. I don’t want to see super seniors who can’t make it to the next level playing cfb.

Hell, might as well redshirt our RB Moss then because he got injured for circumstances outside his control. Oh wait, he is actually getting drafted, so he isn’t going to take the NCAA to court.

Sure why not. But if I'm being honest, at the direction I think this is all is inevitably headed, I have a sneaking suspicion that going to school isn't going to be a requirement when all the dust settles on college football. If they end up being employees of the university, then they won't have to go to school and the NCAA will cease to exist. Collective bargaining and college football becoming a professional league is coming I'm afraid.
Not saying I like any of this. I just think this is where all of this may very well be headed

I've been warning that this is going to happen.
Lets say a judge in Boise says schools in Idaho cannot limit how many years athletes can play.
Then Boise State fields a team of 5 and 6 year veterans with NIL pay at or above rookie NFL min.

People like to blame the NCAA for everything but they've really had little choice.
