Was 2019 BAMA LSU the most star studded game in SEC history?

If it’s not, it’s up there.

On offense for sure.

On defense, probably the 2011 matchup between the two national championship winning teams that year.

In terms of Offense: 100%

2 Heisman winners on the field together as well.

To me it honestly rivals that 2005 USC/Texas game in terms of National Star Power.

Christ, imagine if you combined the offense of 2019 with the defense of 2011.

I'd say the 2011-12 LSU-Alabama games were. Don't give 2019 LSU that much credit.

It's kind of a running joke, using the Auburn criteria for titles.

Combined 2019 Alabama/LSU Offensive Roster (with NFL program):

QBs:
*LSU*
Joe Burrow - Bengals
*Bama*
Tua Tagovailoa - Dolphins

WRs:
*Bama*
Jerry Jeudy - Browns
Henry Ruggs - Would still be in the NFL but he fricked up
DeVonta Smith - Eagles
Jaylen Waddle - Dolphins
John Metchie III - Jets
Tyrell Shavers - Bills

*LSU*
Ja'Marr Chase - Bengals
Justin Jefferson - Vikings
Terrace Marshall Jr. - Eagles
Trey Palmer - Saints

TE:
*Bama*
Cameron Latu - Eagles

RBs:
*Bama*
Najee Harris - Chargers

*LSU*
Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Chiefs

OL:
*Bama*
Landon Dickerson - Eagles
Evan Neal - Giants

*LSU*
Damien Lewis - Panthers
Anthony Bradford - Seahawks
Austin Deculus - Chargers
Saahdiq Charles - Panthers
Lloyd Cushenberry - Titans

PK:
*Bama*
Will Reichard - Vikings

I think we can all agree that a combined WR room from both teams would be absolutely absurd.

You could easily field a REALLY damned good NFL offense with players between those two schools.

Mind you I didn't look to confirm everyone who played that game, only who was on the roster at the time.

You could add to that:

Alabama - Brian Robinson - 49ers

LSU - Tyrion Davis-Price - 3 years in NFL

Both actually played in that game as backups.

I was relying on Wiki's page for the 2019 rosters and didn't catch either of them, so my bad.

Aside from Ruggs (who still pisses me off), I mostly just stuck with people currently on NFL rosters. There were a LOT more that had been in the NFL at some point but were now in other professional leagues (a few players on the Birmingham Stallions, a few on the DC Defenders, etc.)

Appeal granted. I'll allow it.

You could add Cade York, kicker to the list. Isn't he currently with the Saints?

I'm pretty sure Alabama set that standard with 1941.

Wiki listed him as offseason/practice squad. Is he on an active roster?

No, the Saints are going with Smyth.

Most Bama fans would be fine with taking away that claimed title and replacing it with 1966.

I feel like this is kind of a myth. Both the 2011 LSU and Bama defenses were filled with all-time great college players but there actually weren't that many guys on either defense who went on to have great NFL careers surprisingly.

2019 was definitely the most star studded matchup IMO.
