To all you John Mateer haters ...

The kid has had some struggles, no doubt.
But he is the definition of a WINNER!
Against LSU, he threw 3 interceptions.
After the third interception he said to himself: "I'll either hate myself for the rest of my life, or become a man."
From that point forward, he went 6 for 9 with 2 TDs and no INTs.
LSU's defense is ranked #9 by SP+. Mateer threw for more yards (318) against that defense than any other QB.
He quarterbacked Oklahoma to 4 straight SEC wins to finish the season.
He quarterbacked Oklahoma to 3 SEC road wins vs zero road losses, and 9 wins total.
Anyone who thinks OU is not deserving of a playoff berth because our offense is weak or that Mateer is a bad quarterback has not paid attention to how Mateer has led us to victory.
Those people are kindly requested to go frick themselves.

Mateer is complete arse and needs to be replaced with a real QB in the off-season.
And he didn't QB Oklahoma to shite. He was propped up by the defense and special teams while he failed spectacularly for most of the season. He's the primary boat anchor dragging the offense down and would've been benched already if he played at any other major school.

OU should be very proud of what they accomplished this year against a ridiculous schedule.
Your QB is very tough and your team found ways to win.
I’m not judging him due to the hand injury, but to be very clear your offense was objectively bad again (FEI 51 vs FEI 80 last year) and you owe everything to your defense dragging you to the playoffs with turnovers and your outstanding special teams group.

LSU busted a coverage that led to a wide open receiver and the game winning TD. His other TD pass was a tunnel screen that broke open for a 50 yard TD. Mateer was not good against LSU.
