Is that even legal assuming both parties agreed to it?

Yeah, when Lane leaves to Bama in 5 years, if he has the shot to win the NC I’m letting him. He is going to take everyone with him anyways, may as well let him try his luck winning us hardware first. Then I can hate him right after.

ETA: re-read the post. Hell no, let him focus on recruiting.

It’s his team now and he’s getting paid. If he negotiated not to coach it I also don’t have a problem with that.

He shouldn't. I recall Brian Kelly watching from the suite a few years back during this same scenario.

Let him recruit and start getting pieces in place for next year. No need to waste time trying to instill a new system for the Belk Bowl.

it has happened before. Ironically enough, Brian Kelly did this when he went from Central Michigan to Cincinnati.

i don’t think that happens here though, recruiting, putting together a staff and identifying your portal targets is going to take enough time. there’s an argument that maybe you want to use the bowl prep to start installing your offense but not sure how many of those guys will be back

Problem is Lane doesn't like recruiting.

If Frank wasn’t on staff I’d say no chance because he’s focused on recruiting.

Consider this, though.

Kiffin coaches LSU to victory and the offense scores more points and has more yards than Ole Miss does in their loss
