I am legitimately curious what Ole Miss expected when they hired him?

Think about the way he left his other jobs:

1. Oakland Raiders - Owner calls Kiffin a "liar", claiming that Kiffin was the one that spread to the media the idea of an unsigned resignation letter sent to him by the Oakland office.
2. Tennessee - Leaves after one season during the recruiting stretch to coach USC, and broke SEC rules by mentioning a recruit by name when accusing Urban Meyer of cheating
3. USC - Run out of town during a horrid 4th season
4. Alabama - Joins the Saban Redemption Tour as OC, does well at Alabama... then phones in performance against Washington after taking HC job at FAU. Is asked to leave before a similar performance can be given against Clemson.
5. FAU - During his last season with FAU, on the day before their conference championship game, already talking to Ole Miss

What about this man's career led Ole Miss to believe they would be the odd ones out in regards to how he treats his employers?

Serious question. Why would anyone think his path at Ole Miss would have been any different than everywhere else (especially how he left Tennessee)?

If that's what you need to believe the take is, go for it.

Oh it is. And if you can put it on a spoon, heat it up and inject it into my veins; I'd put a $20 on it!

FWIW, I assume Lane will leave us in some dramatic way as well.

Buying a rental car, marrying a hooker and hiring Lane “Wiffin” Kiffin are the axioms a man could live a success life adhering to….

The difference is with the rental car you’re liable to get some decent service out of it. With the hooker your sex life is liable to be pretty exotic. With Kiffin you’re going to be, at best, an also ran.

Yes, but the board is flooded with Ole Miss fans angry at Lane and LSU fans begging for more tears to lick, and I thought it amusing that anyone is even angry about Lane's approach to all this. It's literally been his MO for nearly 20 years.

I’m just gonna be honest, LSU is the logical choice — but I didn’t entirely expect him to go through with leaving an 11-1 playoff bound team.

I imagine if I didn’t expect it, Ole Miss fans didn’t either.

I also disagree with anyone who says he will do the same thing to LSU. It’s one of the top CFB jobs in the country & he’s already been to the NFL.

There's more script A's threads about Lane Kiffin than Ole Miss fans.

You will literally say anything at this point.

I think he is here to stay. The last decade of his career after Saban rehabbed him has been quite normal and successful. Spent a few years at a small school after doing well as a OC. Moved up and spent 6 years at a better school. Now he is 50 years old and got a top job. I have to assume he isn’t going anywhere unless he really wants to risk NFL again.

1. Oakland Raiders- don’t know enough about the situation to discuss, but judging by it being the Oakland Raiders I can see both parties at fault here.
2. By far his most egregious exit. Viewed USC as a destination place I’d imagine.
3. USC AD was not patient enough here. Had them in the conference championship during a probationary period for them. Steve Sarkisian came and did the same or worse than he did.
4. Got a new head coaching job. Beat Washington by 3 scores. Then lost to Clemson after he left. Apparently he wasn’t into a job because of his new gig. I could see that being the case.
5. Tulane’s coach literally just did the same thing and took a job before conference championship. Both are not at fault as they are upgrades in their career.

I’m not saying he’s not a volatile coach because he is. But you’re missing some important details to prove a point.

You just described every coach ever. Literally every coach on earth is always looking for bigger money and better opportunities. Will we get this same bullshite when half of everyone’s roster jumps in the portal in a month looking for more money? Do you personally turn down job offers that guarantee you more money and more opportunity?

We've all worked with people like this.
Jumps around from job to job. Never finishes a project or moves to next job if things get difficult or accountability catches up.
If LSU gets 5 years out of him, or he out of LSU, then they'll both have gotten more than I'd expect.

I think you are misinterpreting Ole Miss' issues with him. The issue is not that he left, it's that he trolled the fanbase and then tried to sink the ship of a playoff team on the way out. If we were 8-4, it'd be far less of a debacle.

You’ve worked with someone that came to your middling-poor company, gave you the best years you EVER had, then took a better job for more money? Sorry you got left behind

He offered to stay. He had hours long meetings with the AD wanting to coach the team. AD said no. But apparently the fans wanted him gone anyway right? Seems like everyone wins

I will say this. If I have a competitor offering me more money and more resources, I don’t give a shite about what deadlines my company has. I’m gone.

Everyone is loyal until they’re not. This is employees and employers. Why is a coaching job any different than an accountant or project manager in regards to leaving for better?
