Golding ? Hope he runs a program better than he runs his defense .

If they’re honest they know Golding won’t make it past 2026 and they can spend next year doing an actual coaching search.

It's ok I'm not sure Florida or Auburn are pumped up about their coaches either..at least we aren't overpaying in 3 years we can get another good coach..I'm all about finishing this year..

You do know that we had the #1 defense in the country, in basically all major stats, last year right...?

Defense has been good enough to win 11 games...

And so did State in 2018 under Bob Shoop. I wouldn't want Bob Shoop as my team's head coach.

Let's not forget the WEALTH of head coaching experience..
The dude has never even run a HS program and they gonna toss him the keys to an SEC one???

Yesterday was the worst day in Oxford Mississippi since President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation

Not the time or the year for OU fans to post this.

This is quite honestly what I hope we’re doing.

It's probably their best option to salvage this year. I don't see them keeping him long term

So who would you hire? Brian Kelly? We are in the beginning prep of a playoffs? It's not like we have a lot of options. It was the right decision. I also don't want to overpay for an unproven coach, Sunbelt coach, or coordinator.
Golding can patchwork work the playoffs again not ideal if he has to then go hire a great OC for next year. If it doesn't work out it's fine they will be better coaches available in 2-3 years. Just rebuild then.

I think he was the perfect choice to be an interim for the playoffs, but to panic and give him the FT job w no search the same day Lane peaced out? I mean yall could at least attempt to do better.
You dont learn how to head coach in the SEC...how many guys were proven winners at HC at smaller conferences only to get swallowed alive by the job.... no imagine ZERO experience in that role.

As long as your NIL network stays in shape, OM will poach a really good P4 HC. I’m assuming they’ll essentially structure Golding’s contract like an interim contract despite all the “permanent” talk.

I understand that but there no one really out there I think Keith Carter made some calls to gauge some interest in some bigger coaches probably everyone is staying where they are at..no need to risk a big money on a coordinator like Stein.. Kentucky can do it if they want but he's young and has to build a staff don't know how well he is connected plus he has to learn the job..we just need to weather this storm for a year or 2 better options available then.

The trap you get into is that y'all will buy enough talent, no doubt, but will win just enough games to keep his job and y'all will be stuck with him for longer than you should be. Similar to Lemonis with us. I like Golding, but he's gonna get caught by the Peter Principle.

Great hire. I'd much rather have Golding as a coach than Kiffin.
