Does Bama not make the playoffs if they lose?

If so, that’s pretty stupid.

If any school is a playoff team and the SECCG knocks them out of the playoffs; ALL future SECC games needs to be cancelled asap. ANYTHING the SEC is doing to hurt the schools it represents is going against their goals.
Any profits they might argue they would lose can be made up on teams that actually make it to the playoffs or in other ways. We simple cannot allow a meaningless game to stop teams from a shot at the national title......and while were at it, roll back the 9 game SEC schedule. Greg Sankey really needs to act like he is representing this conference and not the interest of the big10.

They are the bubble team now. They are absolutely out of they lose.

From what I've read, it depends a lot on the Texas Tech/BYU game.
Tech is almost assuredly in, win or lose - but BYU won't get in unless they win.
If BYU wins, that lowers the number of available slots by 1, and we may end up being on the outside looking in.
Of course, if we win, then it's all moot anyway.

quote:Don't give a damn about ratings to other conferences. I am sure they find it very entertaining to watch the SEC beat the hell out of each other as their teams watlz into the playoffs. The SEC presidents need to raise immortal hell about the difficulty their teams are being placed in to earn a playoff spot; all while having to play some of the most difficult schedules in the nation.
e of playoff games last year had better ratings

And if us and BYU win, then the last spot will be between ND and OU. The committee would find a way to screw OU in that case because they will not leave out ND even though they should.

The make-a-wish shite for G5 teams needs to go. Top 12 teams should mean top 12 teams.

Let me spell out for you since you didn't understand the post, the SECCG is a money maker. They aren't getting rid of it.

Id tell the SEC we aint playing in it if we get left out.

Sticking strictly to the 'money' issue, it just doesn't hold water. We can make money by getting teams in the playoffs and possibly winning the NC. Plus the prestige that comes by winning the title.....Plus this conference already makes tons of money in other ways. The SEC is in no way hurting for cash. So again it goes back to do whats best for the teams.
I'm betting the loser of this SECCG could run the risk of getting left out of the playoffs. And if that happens, the SEC has to examine the usefulness of it. Its obvious from everyone to the average fan to the media, the game is more detrimental than beneficial. The only ones left to wake up and end that game is the very top brass of the SEC. Sankey may need to go and get someone who can actuall run this conference with some more brains.

You do realize that ultimately they are the decision makers, right? Why raise hell? Just make a decision.
And keep this in mind...half the teams in the SEC may sniff the playoffs once in 20 years. You think those 7 or 8 presidents would vote to kill their cash cow?

Some people won't like this, but here's the reality over the next 20 years: Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Mississippi State aren't getting in the playoffs. What are the odds from year to year that Vandy gets in? Why should those presidents vote to kill their big money maker?

BAMA is in the 4-8 tier with a win, 10 or 11 with a loss. Anything else and you will have seen your last SECCG.

I don't expect them to lose.
I certainly don't expect them to lose big.
If they do lose big, there is a chance.

I belive this is correct and would be the same if Bama not playing SECCG, committee has said teams wont be punished for loss

quote:On that, we agree. Conference winning G5 teams would finish way down the line if they were in a P4. Yet, a better P4 team sits home, while a G5 team goes to the playoffs just to get murdered in the first round. Let's say Texas or Alabama doesn't get in. Is there a reasonable person who actually thinks a team like Tulane would have a snowball's chance in Hell against either?
