Imagine having this offense coupled with Auburn’s Defense

#2 in the nation, just ahead of the offensive genius Lane Kiffin himself.

Better imagine because that offensive style is hell on a defense. Auburn’s defense will take significant steps back, but ultimately it’s about wins and losses and if they win more games it will be worth it.

Auburn is winning the carousel right now.

Golesh was the OC at Tennessee in 2022 when the offense was putting 50 points on almost everybody.
Give that man a defense, and he will be hard to beat.

The beauty of Durkin’s defense is the high number of players he rotates in and out. They even talked about it last night during the Iron Bowl. It helps keep players fresh, especially in the second half.

You can’t. Like 2022 Tennessee, the team success is predicated on splash plays and quick strike offense. Defense won’t be able to sustain and the offense will falter against teams with equal or superior talent on the other side of the LOS
But it can net you 10 wins a year with a good QB, good RB, and fast receivers which would be acceptable improvement for where Auburn is now.

That will be beneficial for sure. If Auburn can field a top 60 defense, Golesh will probably win a lot of games. They were well below low that in each of his seasons at USF. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the up-tempo teams rarely have good defenses. But at the end of the day, stats don’t matter. Wins do.
I don’t know that constantly exposing your defense is a sustainable championship model, but time will tell.

Which is why opposing offenses will play up tempo and go without substituting, knowing we can gas the defense in the first half and soften them for ball control in the second half. It’s how we’ve smothered Tennessee every year (up until this one, which was the result of a young and inexperienced defense and QB figuring themselves out on the road).

Against what defense?
Go look at USF’s schedule a you’ll see against who. While you’re looking, go look at who Tennessee played against while he was the OC and they were doing the same thing that USF has done this year.

Yeah. I remember when they came to Athens. The “Sanford isn’t that loud” game.
They got shut down and butt fricked.
Wooop dee dooo.

Correct, I like Heupel but his defenses have been his achilles heel even in 2022 they lost three games with that offensive style. Never say never but I don’t think it can hold up against an SEC schedule

I don't see any signature wins prior to him coaching at Auburn same for Sumerall. Both did ok in the AAC but nothing spectacular, no major upsets some head scratching losses now they have much tougher competition we will see

Nobody asked you to be excited about the hire. I'm actually 100% sure that no one cares what your thoughts are.
